D1SC or F1???
Heres the whole deal:
Im doing a built 408 and Procharger setup and im currently tied between who I want to do the work for me and how exactly I want it done. So im reading a lot here and have a few questions. I dont weant to end up with something im gonna have to change in the near future... so I wanna get it right the first time. Question #1: Ive read a lot here that the D1SC will only support about 750 to the wheels. I will be wanting more in time, so should I go with the F1 over the D1SC? I go the the 1/4 a lot and do a lot of highway pulls in my old car. It has to stay streetable and I like the boost to come in rather quickly. What do you guys recommend?

I'd vote for the F1A as well. The 408 will max out the D-1SC and you'll be wanting more power. The F1A is louder, there is no hiding the fact that you have a blower under the hood. Since it looks like you had a KB Cobra, the noise shouldn't bother you. Check out my 408 here.

Urban Legand,
I got your email. Have we met before? When we raced... were you on the bike or in the Vette? You should have pulled me over!!
EPP,
I have sent you numerous emails about the setup I want to do because you were recommended by a lot of the guys here... but i never got a response back. Check your emails and get back with me.
It looks as though I will do the F1... but I want it to build boost for street use and not take too long. I dont mind the noise at all. Its not a daily driver and will probably be towed to the track from here on out and just used for street play (IE ZX14, and Busas are what im shooting for ) Anyone else have any opinions on either blower?

If it's for your vette, I'd go F1C over the F1A. Lots of track use and hanging with the bikes, get the biggest blower you can fit in there.

go with the cenus as to the f kit. BUT im getting 700+ hp and im still only using the 4.00 pulley and the larger crank pulley. last time tuned i was only getting 9.1-9.2 psi. the belt has been slipping cuzi never checked it so MAYBE im at 10 and my last dyno at synergy was 739
therefore the d1 os capable of hitting the numbers. now it all depends on your motor and build itself.

Does anyone here know how fast the F1 will spin up compared to the D1SC? I just dont want an incredible lag time.
The engine is going to be built on a 9.5:1 compression and im going to be using meth of course. AFT or Trick Fllow 225's ported.

This is pretty insane power for a street car.....are you happy with the D1's performance on the 400 incher.
I have the F1A for mine, one thing that has concerned me is the noise and the fitment for it (trying to keep functioning A/C). I do not plan to turn this car into a track only car, so max performance isn't a concern. I don't know for sure but it seems the 'noise' may get tiresome from the F1A after lots of driving. Although I am not speaking from experience as mine is not together yet.
10psi and 739RwHP seems like a pretty stout street car that would provide alot of reliability and probably easy mid 10's at weight with a subtle sound.
I suppose it is all in what you want and to the original poster it sounds like the F1A is what you would want with your goals in mind.
Me, I am still on the fence.

Lag... WTF......with a supercharger Are you kidding me? It spools just as fast as your engine does. It is, after all, belt driven, so it has a direct correlation dependent on RPM. No 'lag' so to speak of like you may find on a turbo...

here is my dyno session. keep in mind.... im running 2- powersticks, 2- dynopacks, and 2- magnaflow cats.... still pretty loud dont you think. BUT knock off a couple mufflers and the cats and maybe few more ponies.
but yes i am happy with the performance. are you building a street car or a track car. at these numbers i have to drive on M/T's to get traction. nittos couldnt put it down. so having the high numbers aint what its all about for street. ill prolly pulley down but for now ive been driving it the way it is. gone 200+ miles on a cruise no problems.

Urban,
I sold the KB because the thermostat stuck closed one day when it was in the garage warming up and I was unaware of it and it cracked a coolant passage in the block which was brning off in the exhaust and I slowly started losing coolant. I think I remember you though. Did you have a kid in the front seat with you? You should have pulled me over!
Please excuse the "lag" comment, gentlemen. Im completly aware of how a supercharger works. What I was referring to was the lack of instant response a centrifugal blower has compared to a twinscrew like I used to own.
Whats the difference between the F1C and the F1A?

did the 60' 1.985 / 1/8 7.977 @ 96.87 mph 1/4 11.998
then went again still cant launch
60' 1.939 7.615 @97.33
that run should prolly have put me deep into the 11's in not hit the 10 mark. the online calculators say only 11.9 and thats obviously not correct. it was very windy the last time out that they shut the track down the an 1/8 for safety
then thats when we found out that im slipping the belt. i dont drive much so never knew until strapping it to the dyno
keep in mind, this what not built for the track. but ive been trying to see what i can do... there is a video of my last runs if you search my posts.

The F1C/F1R's are physically larger than the F1/F1A. They flow more air, are even louder, and I think may have a more aggressive step up ratio. You can check it out on the chart on Prochargers site. It shows all the specs of their blowers.
BTW, if this link works, here's a clip of a vette with a forged 346 and F1C. It was done earlier this year. He (ebz06 I think) posts on here and dyno'd around 750rwhp - 800rwhp. Pretty stout track times too...9's @ around 140+ if I remember correctly (4l65e too). He can get into boost pretty darn quick!
