Default Threw the WP/PS belt

First real run tonight and threw it off, who knows where it went, it was dark and we were 100+. Lost alt, PS, and water... had to shutter down and tow it back with the tahoe (PITA). No tags, no insurance, about 1/2 mile from home in the country testing... ran good up until then. Bad tensioner?

Karma, driving with out insurance = Bad Karma.

But in all seriousness, if your running a stock tensioner, you should maybe move up to a solid one.

I just put on the Katech tensioner because I threw a belt twice at the track.

Katech + high sidewall idler here too ( katech sell them complete )

No probs. A duff stock tensioner caused my belt to throw too.

I had the same problem and I installed a new tensioner with a 99 S/C Buick Regal pulley and no problems so far.

Awesome, I'll take that recommendation then. I saw comp had one, but have physically seen the katechs, they look nice, and by what you guys are saying, they work equally well! Just don't want the belt flying off again with potential buyers looking/driving the car! =) Thanks again guys.

High side idler pulley + alternator pulley for the win.

Aren't there 2 tensioners? The one just up and to the left (from the front) from the alternator I did notice... the belt was walking back and forth on it about 1/8", couldn't figure out why. Common problem I'm guessing? Just wanna make sure I get this sorted out correctly! Thanks again guys!

There is only 1 tensioner, mounted high on the water pump.

There is an idler down between water pump and alternator.

Well do I need to replace the idler? I noticed the belt going forward and back on that idler, didn't seem to move on the tensioner.

You're right man, fortunately I live in the country. I've driven maybe 5 miles since I've gotten it going, between driving to the new house from the apartment, and around the block, etc. Since I'm selling it, I don't want to "smog" it right now just to register it and insure it and then have to do it again and pay the $ under the table AGAIN just to sell it. I'm waiting until I get someone that wants it for sure, then "smogging" it, and getting the hell rid of this car. It's posessed! Can't wait to work on the 67 again!

Put a new idler on tonight as well as a gatorback belt, didn't fly off this last test run. New housing development next to mine that never started construction but has walls and pavement. Brake boosted in 2nd and couldn't keep the back tires from gettin the car sideways @ 5psi, pretty damn fun. 5psi in 2nd @ 3500rpm. Wonder how much torque it's puttin down, a lot more than the ls1 with the hotcam and headers, that's for damn sure! Can't wait for the katech to get here!

Autozone buddy, think it was $34. That's the only thing I'd get from the zone, well, that and oil, and coolant! =) BTW - How much was your tune @ Synergy? I hear Rick is the man there, and would like to have the TA tuned there @ 8psi (like yours) with the 6.0L.
