Default STS or G-Trim can't decide.

I know this is a topic that has been gone over a few times but i'm looking for some opinions.
To me it seems like they make some similar power on stock boost but can be made to have more power. The sts kit i'm looking at is non IC while the G trim has the aftercooler...will that make a difference in the power?
I guess i'm really just torn on which to invest in and looking for some insight to help me make a decision.
Thanks

I hear the sts takes forever to spool and get to the designated psi that makes me lean toward the G trim but then again no one runs them...seems like there must be a reason.

Not going to say which is better for you as that is up to you, but I never had any STS kits come close in any races I had with my g-trim setup. And most had some kind of issue so it could be that etc... Good luck.

I think I would have already decided on the G trim but I've heard that you won't reach peak boost til late in the rpm's (don't know if that's true).

Yeah I hear nothing but good things about both but they both hold a good re-sale value. I haven't seen many that sell for under 3,500 (used) and when I do, they sell the same day. lol

i have no experience against or with a G-trim but my STS runs good and strong. im at 9psi making around 500 rwhp though an A4 .. that speaks for itself. good luck on your choice. both kits will work, both will test your resolve and both will have short comings .

I agree!
If you going to do it, spend the money and go with the best.

Sure. That's debateable however. I'm making a decision between sts and g trim.

That is not true at all they are a small S/C and make great power thoughout the power band. As soon as I used to floor my car it would instantly go to 5-6lbs. Are there better systems out there YES. Are there better for the money and I am speaking of used systems I don't think so. Make your own decision cause everyone has there own opinion as to what is the best etc...

Try piecing a kit together? I'll have less than $3k into my D1SC setup (of course not including fueling, but that's all taken care of anyways)...including a cam.

That's with an FMIC, Turbosmart BOV, and an 8-rib setup too!

It seems D1SC head units are popping up quite often now. When I first started looking a few weeks ago they didn't seem to be as available used.

All you have to do is wrap your exhaust and keep your stock ypipe and exhaust manifolds and you should see full boost by about 2500 RPMs in first gear.

TRT has some great STS deals.

Tune is key with STS, you HAVE to have a good dyno tune. I didn't believe it and I learned.

Thanks for the input guys but i'm going with a G-trim. It's a polished unit with the procooler.

that kit looks nice.. i never like the idea of having all that stuff on top of my engine and i like the procharger set up better but people put out good numbers with that stuff so more power to ya.. that does look good polished though.. are you buying it for sure?

Yes that's the one i'm getting. Hopefully tomorrow or tuesday.
I'm not really too keen on it being on top of the motor like that either but hey as long as it makes some power and looks decent. I like the polished look.
