Default Procharger P-1sc question

Why do people bash the p-1sc boost/hp limits when procharger states the max boost out put is 30psi and max hp is 825hp? Im going to be runing the p-1sc kit in hopes to make 500-600rwhp(got it for cheap). For the longest time I was torn between this kit and the D-1sc kit, procharger states 32psi boost limit and 925 max hp for the D-1sc kit. Thats 2psi more boost and 100hp more over the p-1sc. I know its going to vary car to car/set-up to set-up, but looking at the kits side by side on paper there isn't much of a difference. Maybe im missing something along the way, but after all im new to this FI thing. Any thoughts?

From what I understand, the P1 is not built to take high boost as well as the D1. In other words, to run 14# boost on a P1 would stress the HU, bearings and all much quicker than 14# on a D1. I'm sure someone here with more experience will chime in soon though!

On a 200 cid engine you would see much more boost from a P-1SC than you would from a 346 cid. There is a much wider difference between the two models of blowers than what it looks like, but for what you're looking to see from the blower, the P-1SC will get you there.
As an example, the max boost we saw from a D-1SC on a 402 cid was 16 psi and we got 757 rwhp, and I was shocked we got that much with the D-1SC. Bob

On a 346, the most I have seen personally is 14psi. That was with a 7.65/3.4 pulley combo and the intake hat and filter removed. I don't see the P1 making more than 15psi on a 346 in the very best case scenario...

I think I remember seeing a video where a guy with an LS1 Vette with a built motor (stock displacement) heads/cam and a P-1SC claiming around 713 rwhp. Does that sound like BS?

We just finished up a heads/cam/P1 Procharger setup on a customer's 2002 SS with a stock bottom end. It made 537rwhp with only 5psi of boost!

You guys can follow the build here: http://www.carolinarides.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=29458

If you're only wanting 500-600rwhp, the P1 kit will be plenty for you.

Do you mind giving the info on the cam you used?
