Ran a Spec 3 when I had 600rwhp help up fairly well and was easy enough to power shift with let go around 700 range. running Texrailia triples in both cars its a great clutch a little difficult to get it set up right the first time, but you can power shift with it and it HOLDS. The Spec 5 held drove ok, but you couldn't shift very fast with it, had to make sure you were in the gear before you let out on the clutch at all etc...

Man I'm torn between spec and tex, seems as if people have had good and bad experience with both.

Yeah that is soo true. I just had good luck with my specs when I used the billet FW and broke them in real good before any beating took place the ones I have seen that were gone looked as if they hadn't even broke in evenly etc... The Tex is a beautiful piece of work and other than haveing to machine the slave for the triple it was a better piece in my mind although you are paying for it for sure! The exoskel I don't think requires the slave to be touched so it could be a great option I know the feel is great!

Honestly I'd go with a Tex, I'm not exactly sure about what the limits of an LS7 clutch are however, a Tex can handle 1k or more hp also even though it may be a little more expensive than an LS7 clutch, personally I'd rather be safe than sorry.

The fact that you said after reading this thread you think you'll have to return your oz700. I meant no harm...

Dont overlook the twin disk Ram with aluminum flywheel. I know of a guy that pushed 997 rwhp through it although when he went higher it sliped. It drives almost like a stocker.

I wasn't trying to start a fist fight, its all good. Was just lost on that one, but ya kinda worried about the 0z700 now and should upgrade with the power I'll be pushing. I'll prolly have it around 600-650rwhp most of the time on the street and about 750rwhp at the track, which won't be often but still.

A 3 will not be sufficient. I have a Spec 5 at 621RWHP/571RWTQ and it was good for 15K miles and ~100 DR passes, so I'd suggest a Spec 5 or a Spec dual for 500HP+. Make sure you have a very experienced installer and consider a McLeod bellhousing while your at it.

LS7 will not be sufficient for 500RWHP. They dislike hard launches at 450HP, and won't be appropriate for 500 at all.

I know there is a break in period, but when I put this clutch in it will not be alone. I'm also doing a head/cam pkg, intake, longtubes/ory, catback, and best of all a procharger. After I get the car going I think the first place it needs to go is to the dyno tuner. Will it be bad for the clutch to WOT right off the bat? Should I wait to put the clutch in till after its tune, I would really like to follow the break in period?

My vote is for Exedy Dual disk... It's worth spending the extra $$$ in my opinion. I've seen people go through the single disks pretty quick.

I think you are going to get a lot of mixed opinions on that one. I personally put the new engine, rear, tranny, and clutch in. Cranked her up for about an hour and put it straight on the dyno and beat the hell out of it. Then just change the oil. Just me though. No problems to date and I skipped the whole chattery new clutch phase all together.
