Default Which stroker kit for a single turbo?

i want to build my 96 WS6 into a 383 stroker turbo. I keep seeing eagle kits on ebay for around $1000. What im wondering is, what specs should i go with? What compression? Flat or dished pistons? Etc etc i have a good general idea but when it comes down to the details and time to order all of a sudden i realize theres a lot i dont know. I have to have short tubed headers and cats ive seen that question asked in other threads but i live in ca so i have to keep the cats. Also what cam shaft to buy? I guess im just looking for all around recommendations. Im going to do the 383 stroker and about 2-3 months after im going to do the turbo. Give me some good advice guys

Just keep stock cubes and forge it, or if you're going to go bigger go 408. It'll be cheaper in the long run if you stay stock cubes, and the cost of machining plus balancing and the stroker kit of the 383, you can usually find a 408 for pretty close to the same price.

You should honestly talk to a shop about your end goals as it seems you have a lot of questions and not the knowledge base to go along with it. Not trying to flame, just don't want you to end up with a 600hp capable parts shelf in your garage.

Still have to do a little machine work for the new forged pistons So you're still spending the money there.

SINCE YOU SAID 96 THAT MUST BE AN LT1....AND I WOULD NOT BORE THE BLOCK AT ALL IF POSSIBLE, ITS BETTER TO HAVE THE CYLINDER WALL STRENGTH THEN A FEW EXTRA CUBES. A 383 KITS IS FINE BUT DO A CUSTOM 5 OR 10 OVER PISTON TO SAVE SOME WALL THICKNESS. I BELIEVE ANYTHING OVER A 383 CRANK I.E. 396, 408 REALLY DIGS INTO THE BLOCK AND FOR A BOOSTED SITUATION STRENGTH IS MORE IMPORTANT.

^ i considered doing the stock cubes and forging but those kits are only like a grand for a complete rotating assembly and my uncle can do all the work so if going 383 stroker means more power in the end then i dont see a problem. Is there more benefits to going 383 forged over stock 346 forged? And yea i do have a lot of questions and not all the answers thats why i made a post here- i thoroughly research before i invest.

Which is it? A 96 LT1 or a LS1? There seams to be some confusion here.

Doh! Sorry man didn't see the 96 year model comment. You'll probably want a mildly dished piston to get compression around 9:1.

We have quite a few LT1's we are doing here at the shop. I am not sure that we can compete with Ebay, but I can get right pricing on a rotating assembly to meet your needs. We can also handle all of your machining needs. We have several SBC applications that are running very fast and know what it takes to make one them hold together.

Feel free to shoot me and email, pm, or call at 440-327-7702.

Thanks,
Leo
