I thought about this once. 347ci, 11.5:1, 91mm turbo, and run it on alcohol. It would be definate race only setup. Very limited street time. I like the idea. I am always up for something differnt. I see my new shop car taking a different turn once again. I have some research to do.

Yeah to say that mileage sucks with alchy would be an understatement. Could make some AWESOME power though.

If I decide to go the alky route my version of street will be as follows:

"Unload car of trailor. Drive as short a distance as possibe to spot to race. Do burnout. Race car. Collect or Pay $$$$. Drive back to trailor. Load car back on trailor."

I do not condone illeagal street races....

Can the Iron block be drilled for 1/2 studs?
By default, do you mean wrecked a buddie's car and had to buy it? Please just build ANYTHING and race it before starting another of these threads. Lots of us are not hardcore racers and don't look down on anybody (except people who spend years on the internet talking about builds that never happen). Please only respond when ANYTHING you have runs and has track times.

Insano,

13:5:1 was my choice not knowing when I went this route and on TM.Com,10 outa 11 quoted it would not work and I didn't se why not and did what I wanted too do anyways..I knew the theory had been tried bye someone at a time or another somewhere in the world but apparently no one says much till your doing it then they come out of the wood work, lol

2 days later I got a call from Patrick BarnHill/Bill Lutz saying go for it and soon they were going too up there compression in there builds also and only prob they seen as a guy mentioned in this thread already was spark...I said o.k. and when I get too that point then I'll upgrade if needed...

power seems too be coming in too hard/too quik from 52-6200 and a/f needs adjusting do too leaning out a little then I'll do some more testing on the rollers...

alcohol does burn about 1.7 x as much as gasoline but still is cheaper at $227 Drum vs 116@$479 and Max Nos @ $573 Drum...

What fix is used to solve the spark issue? I would not think there would be a issue till about 1500Hp+

I am sure this post will peak lots of interest as technology comes together. High compression and alcohol might be the next big thing.

I am really interested to see if you can take a alum block fill it with blockfiller have all the machine work done. Keep 346ci with 14.5:1 compression run alcohol and see the outcome spooling a 106MM turbo.

Really do not know till you try it.

Hotter ignition system and smaller spark plug gaps help here. Boosted, high compression alky motors have been with us since the 60's and earlier. For some reason the information is not so easy flowing and the net can make it worse since so many people chime in who heard there information from a friend of a friend, etc. 7:1 on a gas motor is analogous to an 11:1 alcohol engine.

You guys heard of Eric Dillard...Tim Lynch...and a company called Proline? They've been running high compression/alky motors for a few years now. Its nothing new.

I've been thinking about a set up like this for a while, but kind of gave up on it due to what Josh was talking about streetability wise. I may still do it, so continue on with the relevant information!
