Default Questions on STS kit.

I'm thinking about purchasing a STS kit with this what all would my cost's be I only am shooting for like 500 hp. At the moment I just have exhaust and ls6 intake manifold, ls6 ported oil pump and tranny cooler. I would like to run it all safe. The sts kits run around 4,000 I noticed, but I'm not sure as to what everything I will need fairly new. I know I need to upgrade fuel issues for one, but is there anything else that I would need?

This topic has been addressed many times. Short version...I have about $8K in my STS....NOT counting other mods. It's a nice street system and will make you 500RWHP....but you'll have to address many issues including FMIC, fuel, injectors, valvetrain, etc. That is where the $$ piles up.

In the link below checkout page 8 post #152, there's a lot of good info in that thread but post #152 might help you out a little more. Also pm TRTTurbo, he imo would be the best person to contact in regards to these kits. I'm not trying to hate on another man's sale but before going FI have you thought about going Nitrous instead? The reason why I'm saying this is because even though both routes can be expensive, FI would be the more expensive route out of the two. I know I didn't really answer your question but I hope the tad bit of info I gave you, helps you out someway.

I just purchased mine for about that price and i got the injectors and bov... you should be good with that to get it runnin, taking you only run 5lb of boost and get a tune which is around 500.00 and the cost to get it on...you can always upgrade, but that should be safe, call the guys at sts they can direct you better than me........

What are the major draw backs of this setup, and can they be fixed? I read somewhere you can't use subframe connectors... is this true? Also that the oil leaks like crazy on these things. Is there anything I should be worried about if I was to purchase a used kit that is almost new and has barely any miles on it? A friend of a friend is selling one for very cheap compaired to the prices listed on other sites, and comes with upgraded turbo and such.

That is correct, you won't be able to use subframe connectors at least on the driver side.

you will need:
fuel pump, fuel injectors. blow off valve. intercooler... DO NOT BUY PREMADE KITS. if you are going to buy anything get something from TRT Turbo, they are great guys. Exotic Performance Plus is also a great company, Bob is awesome at responding and putting in his knowledge

I personally along with others had an experience with PTS... STAY AWAY.

I currently have a guy that will do all my piping and I already have the Spearco intercooler.

Also GET RID OF ALL THE STUPID BRASS. use stainless

I spent $3200 on the kit with boost gauge, wastegate, blow off valve. the kit was used though (wished it was new... so that speaks for itself)
But if you buy it new
$~4500 + intercooler $~1k and $~800 worth of random stuff if not more

$~6k to be done and said right the first time

How about you tell us what your goals are and we can better tell you if we think STS fits your needs or not...

Do a search on your own... There is TONS of Positive... and Negitive info on this kit... Overall I would say its a good kit for what it is designed to do... again... what are your goals?

I did a bunch of research on the sts kit. My goals are just around 550 rwhp that is streetable and reliable with decent gas mileage.

Then I think a T76 STS kit with FMIC, 60lb injectors, 6.0L heads and maybe a cam would achieve that and more without a problem.

I think Bob has taken a disliking to STS...

I second that motion lol. I'm iffy about it, but main reason I am is because I really want both sfc's. I've been looking around for anyone that has fabbed it up so you could use the driver side. Somewhere someone said chromoly makes one that will work with the sts kit, but the problem is I can not find it anywhere! Meaning google lol.

the charge pipe on the lt side it bolts into the same place the subframe connector would be. the pipe is very stiff and with the right side subframe connector the body doesnt flex.

as for BOB .. yeah he likes the procharger thats no secret. he does great work. if you go to his site he made an STS kit work well over 600hp and it wasnt that much work on the kit itself. most of the work was on the eng, trans, and customer wanting more. nothing he wouldnt have had to do to upgrade a procharger to make same amount of power.

good luck with your decision either way

im at 500rwhp with an auto. with an injector upgrade and a boost pump i will be able to turn up the boost from 9psi to 12-15 and see the 600 range .
