i think the bulkhead is a good idea if you have the pan off. you don't even need a tap, i believe the bulkheads just seal with orings on each side. the threads in the middle of the fitting are just for the bulkhead nut to tighten down on

Its not that hard. Just support the engine from above.
Loosen the 6 bolts for the kmember so they are barely on. Support the kmember. Slowly lower the kmember until you are able to slide the pan out.

If its as the above poster described, it doesnt sound like the K-Member has to come OFF the car, just lowered down enough....
