Jim, Remember what I said, your car is going to be slow! You should have left it NA! What were you thinking? And that E85 garbage, come on who are you kidding? JK, an 8 second pass by your birthday is just around the corner! After that we can celebrate the pass and getting kicked out of the track! Then its onto Byron to do the same thing!

LMAO!!!

Yeah, it will be a pooch for sure.
The mother-in law will probably wind up driving it to church on Sunday!

Lots of work left to do, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel now.
Too bad we can't get it to run on Newcastles

Nice project....I think 2nd gens are going to be more and more popular due to numbers and pricing. I have been thinking about one myself!

Are you going to have A/C?

Sorry Todd, The only A/C will be with the windows down....
This has evolved into more of a streetable strip car than the other way around.
As a $100 find, it has been an economical build considering where it is right now.
I estimate the final build including bodywork at about $20k, so that is not too bad.

You don't need to have your BOV vented. You can recirculate it into one of the intakes. You can also tie your wastegate tubes into your downpipe if you like. Both options will keep your car quieter. 20k isn't that bad at all. I've got about 16-17k in my 98 including the 7.8k price of the car and it's not even half way done.

I think I will tie the wastegates into the downpipes to keep it quieter under power.
And for the BOV's, I will probably just vent them to atmosphere because since my trans does not have engine braking.
Any noise from them when I lift will be very brief.
I'm just trying to avoid getting pulled over a million times like when I had the noisy procharged SBC setup in the car.
It sounded badass at WOT, but the local cops couldn't appreciate it.

One word, six letters..... S L O O O W !!!

Jim, Got one side of the exhaust completed today, (DP to exhaust on car). What a PITA by yourself on jack stands. I do have a couple of nice blisters on my chest where the BB's burned through my shirt to show for it! Other side will be done later tonight. Give me a shout so we can figure out the schedule to get your DP's done. The weekend of April 5th is D day here!

The unfortunate thing is that no one can see how awsome this car looks up close. The glass nose on it looks incredible!

Oh, almost forgot, we get to celebrate 8'S this summer!

your running the dp's out the back? should be nice and quiet with the blow-off into it.

I finally had a little time this Sunday to start the left downpipe.
I think the layout should looks ok and should flow well too!
Here are a few shots of the progress......

I hope to have the downpipes tacked up by this weekend.
Then they will be tig welded and coated satin black.

Yes, I will brace the turbos once all the downpipe fabrication is final.
Since the entire front end is fiberglass, I plan to leave out the fender wells
in an effort to keep the 'glass cool.
Also trying to get close to 3,000lbs raceweight...

Thanks!
With E85, the plugs should last quite some time.
They are easier to change than it seems from the pics.

Default New photos added, back from the dead !!

Hey guys!
Thanks to my partner in crime Dave (TOOSLO5) for helping me finish the down pipe fabrication over the weekend.
I just have not had time to play with the car lately...
I am happy with the layout, and plug access is actually great.
Since we finally are getting some decent weather I am sure this beast will be rolling under boost by the fourth of July !!!!

Jim, Two months left to meet the July 4th date! Time is running out quick. Let's kick some azz on this thing! Next weekend is shot for me but after that the schedule is wide open. I think if the 5 of us, (you,Tim, me, Mr. Monster and Mr. Beer), can put in a couple of long weekend days the project will make some major progress in a short time. I only wish I had the plug access you do!

Dont forget the formula we used on my car. Monster + =work!

Might wanna jack up the passenger side tire to see if it can hit your down pipe if you haven't already. This thing is ****

BTW after seeing the outside pics that color looks almost exactly what my 74 had. Very nice.

Why the high base fuel pressure? 75 psi? My injectors are 160's, and yours are 96lbs,but I am going to start my base pressure about 30 psi, and go up under boost reference. E85 as well, thats why I went so big on the injectors. What engine management are you going to use?
