Default Need help with roots blower intake for LS1.

Does anyone have pics of the lower intake off of the magnacharger for the Vette? My reason for asking is that the intercooled blowers for Lightings are pretty damn cheap and since they use the same basic body for each blower I want to know if the Lighting upper will bolt to the Vette lower. I don't care about hood or cowl clearance because I want a roots style blower and no matter what. No company wants to get their *** in gear and build one so I am going to have to. I may have a the first LS1 car with a blower sticking out of the hood and no windsheild wipers but oh well, at least I will feel special.

Just get a Radix truck intake it uses the C5 intake base with a intercooler heat exchanger built in.MP112 is a 112 CID displacement supercharger.

I just found out that the C5 and F-body car have a different belt path. The C5's belt runs about 1" closer to the motor than the f-body' belt. So if you plan on using the C5 Manga charger on your F-body you will have to change the ballancer and all accesories to C5 configeration. I talk with a rep today and he said they will have an f-body charger in about 4 to 5 months. I went to a GM parts house and sure enought the belt systems are different.

Who did you talk to, I called magnason after popular hot rod ran an artoicle on the magnacharger and said that a f body model was due in a few months. The respons I recived was that they tried and tried and decided it wasnt possibble and decided to stop testing. If they really making one im a lil pissed I was lied to but will still be purchasing one.

I did't get his name, when I called I asked for someone who could give me diaminsions for the C5 Magna charger. He told me that the C5 version was about 3.5" taller than the LS1 intake. I have 4.5" above my LS1 intake so that version will work in my car. Then he asked me if mine was from a C5 or F-body and explained the belt differences. My only accesory is the alternator, so I went to find out if the C5 stuff would fit on my car.

copy of the email i recived:

Thank you for your interest in our product. We do offer a supercharger
system for the LS1 engine, but it is only for the Corvette application.
We
brought a couple of F-bodies in for testing, but the supercharger will
not
fit under the cowl. We tried, but issues could not be resolved for the
supercharger to function correctly.

MY question is has anybody actually tried to fit the c5 kit on a fbody? Looking at pictures the rear belt only gos to the 3rd injector. The belt would be slightly lower then the housing, I really think it would fit.

Spoke with a rep at Magnacharger today and asked him why the Vette kit would not fit. He told me that the biggest problem is since the air inlet to the supercharger is at the rear of the supercharger it did not having any clearance under the cowl. After looking at the PICS of the system installed on the Vette I understand. The Rear of the blower is fully exposed on the Vette, but on the F-Body it would actually up under the cowl.

He also told me that when a friend of his (that works for GM) decided to install one of these kits on a LS1 F-Body that he found out that he would have to remove part of the cowl and notch the windshield.

He also told me that they are working on "custom hot rod kits" for the LS1 but use a regular front drive instead of the rear drive (like the Vette uses). However these kits are not being developed with the intended use on the F-Body, but they will test fit them to see if they are feasible to use on a LS1 F-body.

He said that he has may inquires about a LS1 F-Body system and gave me the impression that they are not ready to give up as of yet, so maybe there is hope.

I am going to contact Whipple Charger tomorrow and then Kenne Bell to see if they have any interest in developing a system for us.

Later,
Bart
