Speed density is the correct way to tune a FI motor...but you all know that now

Your problem sounds a little like mine, except at a much lower rpm. Mine doesnt get bad til after 6000rpm.

How does it drive on the road ? Will it go beyond 5500rpm ?

I just checked my wires. They all ohmed 25-26 except for one. It was at 60, wiggled it the it read 80 and then 130. The crimp on one end was a little loose. Crimped it tight and it read 25.. Hopefully this was the problem. Too wet outside to go for a test drive...

He tried that allready.

Not sure what's wrong with your car but I do agree that the best way to tune it is 3bar SD.

went for a test drive, damn that scary fast, 3rd gear roll is crazy fast But the problem is still there..Not as bad though..Going to recheck the wires while there hot...edit...all the wires check good hot..I will probably buy another set just to try it... Runs real strong to 5500rpm then feels like a miss but keeps pulling..

Replaced the idler and there is still a bad squeak. Sounds like maybe the water pump... Squeaking from somewhere around there...

Sounds like mine too, except mine is right at 5k RPMs. It goes past that but 'flutters' and definately loses power. Makes a horrible sound too like a plastic bag being whipped around in high winds.

Haven't ohmed my wires yet, that's next on the list.......

Sounds like a spark problem. We've had a few cars do that.Ended up being crappy MSD coils but it would break up badly under boost.

Interested in the outcome also. I had the same issue. It would hit a brick wall after 4500-5k rpms and build about 5-8psi of boost max. Well changed plugs and wires and spiked to 19psi because I forgot to turn the boost controller down. Being we were not done tuning the #7 ringland did not like me.

So if you have the boost turned up then turn it down a lil.

Found the squeak,,,

went for a test drive tonight, about 10 mins into it the squeak got real bad, then the belt broke .. Luckily I was able to make it home..Jacked it up and spun all the pulleys by hand, the sprung tensioner I couldn't spin at all and the idler/manual tensioner on the head unit is real rough when you spin it..Wonder if the tensioner was sticking at high speed causing the sputter/surging...Damn, gotta pull the steering rack to replace it too

Chris
