i dont think your going to like your IC hanging that low.

try to put your bumper back on and see why.

i would recommend getting it up higher so your pipes just make it under the bumper support there.

my $.02

I was looking at that myself .. I am thinking about putting it behind the bumper support now I have seen a lot of other people have done that. Thanks for the input

Change my mind on intercooler mounting and piping some .. the wideband came in today and I got alot of the work done on the front end of the car so here are the progress pics.

Taping off the bumper:

Taping off the Grill:

The new location of the intercooler mounting sans bumper support:

how the pipes are ran for reference:

and a close up:

How it comes through the top to the TB:

Finished Product:

I still have no Idea where to mount the EGT probe or the Wideband sensor.
Let the feedback begin

Me too... seems to work a lot better there and you cant even really see those pesky couplers on the end tanks now .

Made some progress over the weekend, will have some pics later but this week I am mostly working on the acutal mounting and oil lines and such, What size nitrus jet did ya'll use to restrict the oil going into the turbo? And where did you put the oil return, I know superchargers use the front of the pan and sts uses the valve cover, pros cons?

.065 on the jets. I would return to anywhere on the oil pan above the oil level. If you are running an external oil pump (which you would have to be) then you can also go to the top of the valve cover. We did that on the Z06 we built and never had any issues.

Intercooler looks great!

Also, EGT probe should be in the merge (pre turbo) or in one (or both) of the exhaust manifolds. Place the wideband 6-12 inches from the turbine wheel. You can go closer if you have too, but the more space between the turbine and the wideband the better (heat)

awesome, yea I only have one EGT so I was thinking in the middle of the y where it comes together, Also I know the wideband needs to go in the down pipe really .. but I dont think it will reach back there .. can I just go as far back as I can before the turbo? Thanks for the kind words about the intercooler .. so far that has been the only part of this build to go as planned

Update time ... (I started a new thread for the oil problem) The kit is all but complete all that has to be done as soon as I get the oil deal fixed is put the bumper on and mount the BOV but here are the pics as it sits.

The fabbed up mount to hold things in place while we weld:

Rough sizing and locating things:

from the back for height check:

cramming the Wastegate in there:

Gettin her some oil:

Fitting things to the intake:

Mounted, with a just for fun dump tube:

Don't laugh! Go take a leak in end up with this:

From eye level:

From ground level:

Ok, So i hope to tune in the next few weeks, but I am thinking about doing some insurance things first .. this is a high mileage engine. And I am a college student. So chances are I wont build it until after graduation. I am thinking about doing push rods and ls6 springs. But if I can find a cheap set of 317 heads I might get them and put springs on them and do head gaskets and studs. But what size push rods will I need? And is there anything else I havent done that I might want to do before a tune? Looking for 8psi or 500rwhp which ever comes first

Hey guys, I hate to dig this back up but its been almost a year and 8 months since I have drove the car, nothing catastrophic happened but as stated before I am a college student and I blew the rear end out, and have let the car say at my moms house. I am just about to get back to work on it now, but I am going to change the oil feed line to the appropriate -4an just wondering what length (I was thinking the 14' http://www.jegs.com/i/NOS/741/15295/10001/-1) and what ends I will need to use going into the turbo and also a 065 jet?

And also rear mount ppl, how have you sourced your vacuum lines to regulate the waste gate and get the desired pressure, I have found that running one from the outlet of the turbo to the wastegate with a 11psi spring wont actually build any boost, could that be because I have to much boost drop going to the motor? (But if I unhook the wastegate it builds fine)

Back to looking for parts, I also will be doing a cam springs and pushrods while im at it, what length do I need to get and what cam works well with turbo cars I am thinking something in a 114lsa but what lifts or a certain cam? And with the pushrods should I just get stock length 7.4? or would something else be better? Ohh and is there any use in buying a new timing set or just as good to just get a new chain?

While i'm giving the bump, I found a set of 317 heads at a good deal on here, is it worth picking them up and putting them on to save on the bottom end a little, and will it help or hurt with power at the same boost level?
