Scott/Brady:
The CAS intercooler I have for sale will support 20 lbs of boost, anything above that and it will become a restriction and there will be a pressure drop. That's what I meant Brady. Scott this intercooler will not support 1000 crank HP. The new one I am doing should though. We are going to test it for the company, pressure test it.
I have never heard of a turbo LS1 C5R car from a few years ago, we are NOT confusing the Lambert race car (red, in MD) for an LS1 car even though it has a newer front clip right? That's like a SBC or a BBC I forget. I'd like the name of the turbo C5R guy I'm sure I would have heard of him.
The first turbo C5R car that I had heard of was the LPE TT C5 owned by Steve Dumler.
From an older article from Motor Trend:

From an older article from Motor Trend:
Pitted against a Blue Angels F/A-18 jet, Steve Dumler's stock-looking '01 C5 fitted with a Lingenfelter Performance Engineering twin-turbo 427 LS-1 V-8 ran 9.24 at 150.27 mph (June 2002, page 84). Zero to 60 mph took just 1.97 seconds.

This motor was not a C5R motor. It was a LS1 aluminum block

The Lambert car is a SBC with a BIG Thumper. It's pretty quick. I speak with Randy every once in a while.
He runs in the NMCA but, I forget what class.

Re: YS Trim Pictures --->
I have found out that there has been one serious LS1 turbo buildup. Suprisingly it was a couple years ago. It had carillo rods, stock block, LS1 heads, and a Y2K Turbonetics 80mm turbo on it. It made a little over 1000hp on motor. According to the source it was either 1058 or 1085. He wasn't sure.
i asked him how they kept the heads on the motor back when they weren't even making studs yet and he said that it was a race team with an extremely large budget and they were using gasketlesss technology from the aussies. Kinda like what Mike Moran had on his quad turbo motor. They said the aluminum block didn't last too long KABOOM

I know Madman tried to do a big single turbo setup but I don't really know any details of it.

Re: YS Trim Pictures --->
last but not least a big old single thumper turbo like a 101mm or even a 106mm! Put all of that (probably around 1800-2000hp)
Im only a 347 though lol
If your shooting for 1k fwhp why not just get a air-water and save the hassle of trying to make it all fit I know my twin intercoolers fit very nicely in my engine bay.
Steven
ps good luck with the combo John

Here is the post on turbomustang.The guys name who built it is Shane H.I think he owns some shop in Houston.
Enough with the vague stuff. What race team? A mexican race team? Where do people in Mexico drag race, I have no idea. Was it a motor plate car? I call BS.

The Lambert car is pretty bad ***. Its an LT1 body with a newer front clip, and it still holds a class record at MIR for Midnight Madness. The website doesnt show an ET but the MPH says a lot.

Re: YS Trim Pictures --->
i dont undersand your rating john on your intercooler....20lbs to your motor might mean 25lbs to mine, intercoolers should be rated on their pressure drop YES, but at what FLOW does this occur?

While it may be efficient at 20psi on a honda civic, it may be a restriction at 20psi on an LS1.

Re: YS Trim Pictures --->
Jim I highly doubt that my Griffin intercooler is more restrictive than the ATI one you have. If you want to debate restrictions, talk to Kurt Urban at Wheel to Wheel, he topped out the same ATI 'cooler on a 9.57 car.

Gotcha, I hope I still come over and play use your Playstation.
I just learned more about how folks rate the intercoolers, and that I should discuss CFM.
