Default Help with my STS Kit.

Was wondering if cutting my little gold resister out and basically bipassing it would hurt anything. Talked to a guy from STS, and he said I would have no problems at all. The STS oil pump was made to run at high speed all the time, the resister was put in the kit to quieten the pump down at red lights and when the car is stopped and the high oil pressure isn't needed.

Second. whats an FMIC, and what does it do.. ?

Thanks

Charlie

Don't know about the resistor but an FMIC is a front mount inter cooler....

FMIC brings intake temps down alot.

Well, I've got the twin Procharger intercooler set up. Guess that's good enough... Thanks for your help...

Check your IATs to see how efficient your intercoolers are. Ideal temps would be ~10 degrees above ambient.

I cut the resistor out too....it'll be fine. How much boost are you running through it now?

I'm setting at 12.5 lbs of boost, and a little meth to help.

Sweet. I agree with above though...make sure those intercoolers are keeping up. Good luck.

FMIC is a good idea, although it increases boost saturation with STS. (English - I see about 2.5psi less boost at the manifold than I do at the turbo, measured simultaneously. I have the STS intercooler)

Are you tuning for meth?

And yes, + another on cutting out the resistor. All it does is get hot under the hood and switch the pump to low output. You may end up needing an in-line oil restrictor, however.

Can't you just hook the two wires together on the hobb switch and it will run on high all the time.

guess i have been lucky going on year 3 with the kit and the resistor hasnt been a problem, during the winter when its cold i switch over manually to the high press but in summer i run it on low with the hobbs switch turning it to high after 1 psi boost is seen, as far as the intercooler goes if you put a boost controller on and reference from the manifold it wont matter the pressure drop at the FMIC it just cranks more boost to match what your asking for,
