I would just do what most are saying here, call the conv company and tell them everything, they will get you straight. I learned my lesson, don't skimp on the converter, I'm going Yank this time around.
are you still runnin that 3300 stall?

No...the Th400 is out and 4L80e is in. I had that cheap stall reworked by ultimate converter and it still sucked...I was told I need more than a 9.5" stall to handle the tq my car makes

There's alot of truth to that. I tried tightening up my 9.5 as much as they couldn't and it just couldn't hold the torque. That's why I have a 10.5" now.

I went from a 6 spd manual to a TH400 on my turbo camaro and I realized I should have done it a long time ago. No regrets.

how many of you guys that went to TH400 and say you shoudl have done it a long time ago, and that its the best thing you did, say that because of 1/4 mile???

what about the rest of the performance of the car, driving aroudn normally I think it would be very nice, but what about top end?

I did it because I wanted to see the true potential of this car at the track and I was tired of screwing around with $1400 clutches and worrying about when the tranny/clutch would break next. If I was into top speed runs, etc I probably would have stayed with a 6 spd manual because a TH400 is not all about high speed runs IMO. My freeway flyer days are over with and I just want a nice reliable setup that I don't have to worry about and that can turn a number. Plus it just feels stupid leaving a stop light and just clicking the next gear riding out with a few pounds of boost almost effortlessly.

After I went th400 I realized I should have done it long ago as well. It's not just about 1/4 mile but the way the entire car performs. The car becomes faster from a stop and from a roll, boost never drops off once it's spooled and no human can touch the shift speed, every shift is a flawless faster than human power shift. The car accellerates way faster than you realize as well since you are always in it's peak torque or peak power range. The reliability is also much higher than with a t56 car. With a t56 it's not a matter of if but when it will break a clutch or trans. Spec (aka junk) clutches are the reason I went to my Th400. I refused to spend 1500 on a clutch setup that might work when I could get a solid built th400 for less than $2k and not worry about it.

I personally find my car much more fun to drive with the th400 than it ever was with the t56. I no longer feel like I have to work myself or the car hard to get it to perform well. Even when I take it to the track and make a shitty pass it's still a high 10 sec pass.

The only time I regret it is on the dyno, where M6 guys running the same numbers as me at the track dyno 150 hp higher.

I'm glad I did it (TH350 in my case) because I got tired of fixing 4L60E's. I've been running mine for 6 years with no issues at around 900 hp. About 2 years ago, I brought it to a transmission shop to have it freshened up. They looked inside and said it was like new.

I went from A4 to A3, but I know some M6 guys that have had to fight clutch problems and they never get any good track passes because of it. It would be cool to have a freeway flyer but where I live it's hard to go faster than 140mph for more than a 1/2 mile.

m6 would rape a T400 car on the highway thats for sure. T400 is all about a straight line.

That is an incorrect statement from what I have observed with my car and with others cars.

well I am talking highway in the middle of no where where you can go 180 plus. I know the t400 car is hella fast, but you do run out of gear before we do. I can hit 180 in what seems like a blink of the eye.

Top speed runs yes the M6 has the advantage obviously, but even a typical freeway roll around here from say 60-150 I would still put my money on the TH400 with a bigger power car.

hughes converters are good, neal chance converters too.

Anyone really have to retune their car after a TH400 swap? My car is running lean now that I have a 400. Its only lean in the off idle and cruise range.

Weird. This tune was great for nearly 2 years.

I know it is not a 400 but I have a 4L80E, I used to have a 6 speed, and I would like to see a 6 speed with the same or even 200 RWHP more than I have rape me from a roll it will not happen!
