Default Crank pinning?

i was thinking about buying the crank pinning kit for my ati balancer. I was wondering how hard it is to do it? I dont want to mess the crank up and ruin it then Id have a real mess on my hands.

If you have a good tool it is really easy. It bolts into the end of the crank and you drill through the pilot hole. Just make sure you only drill as deep as the pin you have. Remove the tool and tap the pin in. The pita is getting the rack out of the way. I don't know about the ati balancer but I did my stock one and I am sure the process is pretty much the same. Good luck

i did mine, but the engine was out of the car-after drilling it, they give you a hone-be real careful, to much hone and the pin will fit to lose

I've done quite a few. The best advise I can give is make sure you drill deep enough so the pin is below the face that the bolt touchs.

I've never heard of anyone screwing up the crank, it would be hard to mess it up. Bob

to help prevent the pulley from spinning on the crank's snout...in SC'd applications...

the timing chain gear is keyed, but since the pulley is not a harmonic balancer as with SBC's, the pulley is not keyed...

pinning it is a way to secure it while in the vehicle...

I had my pulley and crank snout woodruff keyed for my current build...
