Default How to pin a forged crank, with it still in the car?

How hard is it to pin a forged crank, with the engine already in the car? Would a shop be able to pin it, with the engine still in the car? Any ideas on what a shop would charge to pin it?

Thanks Guys

I don't know about keyimg the crank with the engine in the car,but you can easily pin the crank.Check out the installation instructions for a C5 Corvette at www.magnacharger.com I used their kit on my Tahoe and I think ATI does a similar kit.

I had problems pinning my forged crank witht the ATI kit because the metal was so hard. I couldn't get a true hole and the pin was loose (I drilled it twice). I ended up keying it while the crank was out. I feel better with the key but the loose pin still would have probably held. You might talk to a machine shop to get better tools to drill and ream the harder metal.

Pinned the stock crank in my 5.3 Tahoe after losing a pulley.I still have the kit if you want to give it a try.I did break the drill bit reversing out after drilling the second hole. The guide, reamer and long bolt are still usable I'll loan them to you if you want to use them.

Thanks for the offer Whitt1, but my crank is forged. I'm going to check the local shops and see if they can do anything.
