Turbo Question not for a ls1 though

Default Turbo Question not for a ls1 though

Ok so my dad has a 06 Dodge 2500 Cummins Diesel (I know it isnt a ls1 but there may be some good info hopefully and if this doesnt apply to forum rules sorry lol) He has done a few things to it such as a AFE Cold air intake, Edge Tuner, and a 5" Magnaflow Turbo Back exhaust.
So here is the question. After installing the new exhaust he has noticed a loss in off the line throttle response. Now some people are telling him that because he eliminated alot of back pressure the turbo is not staying spooled. So basically i wanted to confirm this before he starts messing with the exhaust. Also if anyone knows of a cure for this lets hear it.

Ok,

I am tired of hearing about backpressure.

The turbo provides backpressure.

A bigger exhaust will no take away from it. It will actually help it spool faster and shoudl lower EGT's.

I dunno why he would have lost any power, shouldn't hurt anything. Especially with the Edge on there. What level is he running the edge on?


But NO, there wa sno loss of back pressure, it actually free'd the turbo up to allow it to spool faster, by getting the exhaust gases out of the turbo quicker.

He is running the edge on level 5, and he is saying he lost throttle response like the turbo is lagging more.

I don't know much about diesels, so I am just throwing this out there. Could it possibly be a tuning issue? If you open up the exhaust, the turbo gets more efficient, possibly needing more fuel.

Dump the Edge for a Smarty and he will get the throttle response back and alot more! Competitiondiesel.com is a great site for the performance diesel stuff if that helps at all too.

The edge box is causing this problem. Their is a delay in fueling from TP voltage to the box taking the signal and altering it. Since its a piggyback its slower then say a programmer. We use ALOT of edge boxes on our diesel customers trucks.
