Default Cam for STS TT

Guys, I spun a lifter on my bone stock (motor) sts twin turbo 40k mile z06 and although I was not planning on going bigger on the cam, I just might now that I am forced to change it. I guess I was getting valve float from the crappy stock springs and the lifter just couldnt take it. Motor was not overreved or anything. Happened on the dyno when it hit the stock limiter. As the motor was winding down, TICK TICK TICK TICK...

...But I want to keep the idle as close to stock as possible.

The car is an 01 Z06 so at least changing to the 02+ LS6 cam would be an upgrade, but I know the stock LS6 cam has a lot of overlap.

I believe the stock LS6 cam has about 24* overlap. I know it works well with boost, but I also know that less overlap is better for boost.

I was also thinking about the ls1speed TU0 cam: 216/216 .561/.561 114lsa
The TU0 would have half the overlap of the LS6 cam.

I really dont want anything that is going to idle rough AT ALL. very little lope...as close to stock as possible.

What about the LPE GT7 cam? I saw it in an LS1 STS car before and it idled pretty nice and made great power. But it may be a little too aggressive for what I want to do.

I ran the CC228 cam on my STS. (228/228 .588/.588 115LSA). The wide LSA kept the lope down...though it does NOT sound stock. Made good power too......453RWHP SAE on my LS1 at only 5PSI. That was with a conservative 11.1 to 0 AFR too

I think that's the same cam that's in mine. My lsa might be 114 though.

I am running a 236/240, 600/609 on a 115+3 cam with my 402 sts twin turbo.

I should have numbers this next week. It idles really while maintaing a fairly agressive sound with a tight lope.

I should have numbers this next week. It idles really while maintaing a fairly agressive sound with a tight lope.
I like the selection of cam that Dave has here. Since you are twin, seems your spool and down low power is better than a single turbo so this cam will help you up top as well, and you won't have to worry about boost bleed off either...

How did everything go with this setup? I am in the process of choosing my cam as we speak and am lookin for good results from others experience.

Im runnig a epp cam number in the sig. 4xx ci plus it lopes like a mother and i dosent surge with a sd tune.

I think the speed inc 225/225 might be a decent choice. Otherwise GT2-3 is a good choice too.
