Any guys running exhaust cutouts? if so how much power did you gain from them? Also are the QTP cut outs worth $400 i thought that was a little pricey.
i was just thinking on going with Flowtech cut outs.

i got them for the sound alone. my car sounds like jet going down the street, and i like that. i just bought regular cutouts for now. $45 for the pair. depending on the rest of your exhaust, that will determine how much the cutouts will help with power.

Running through the 3" catback, my car will only make 12-13 lbs. With the 2 3" cutouts open ( 4" dp ) its all good. I've got QTP's on mine and they haven't quit yet. Just a flip of a swith and they're open.

BE CAREFUL!!!

Depending on how good your exhaust is, you may wind up with a blown motor. I did this one time and it gained 10+ psi boost due to removing backpressure from the turbine.

That said, I hate cutouts. I hate complication, more moving parts, and most of all, I hate having to flip a switch to get MY power. If you think you need a cutout, then you really just need a better/bigger exhaust system. With my 3.5" exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler, I gain little to nothing by removing it.

well my car now has the 3" hooker y pipe which is bolted right up to the aps down pipes and from there back no cats and a corsa 3" exhaust. If i do the cutouts i was thinking of welding them right at the end of the Aps downpipes off the turbos i think the car will gain some pretty good power. One thing i don't want it to do though is boost creep

I picked up a 1/2 second doing nothing but opening the cutout on my old Warlock muffler on my truck when I ran 11psi at the track.

Keep in mind that turbo cars almost always gain boost when you open the cutout. So, when someone says they gained a 1/2 second, a fair amount of it probably came from a rise in boost.

I agree with Mike,If it helps you've got to small an exhaust. But sometimes if you want a really quiet car,it's the only choice.

I have had a QTP and DMH and now have STREET PRO. The qtp rattled when closed and broke after I sold it . The dmh worked good but rattled when closed. The street pro is very pricey but doesn't rattle when closed and has been working perfectly. I am very happy with it and likely buy another one for my 96z28.

DMH and QTP might have redesigned their products I had them quite a few years back. DMH offered to fix mine but sold it rather than going thru hassle of shipping it back, a bit of pain since I am up in Canada.

Cutout is high on my list of favorite mod.You can have your car nice and quiet when they are closed, open them up a little bit or a lot and get the sound where you like it. I like to put the fear of god into hondas sometimes at the lights. Its great fun!

For some reason in a few of my NA tests the car seems slower with the cutout not sure why. It should really help though on a turbo car epecially one like mine that has 3 inch single exhaust. For now going to be running single cutout only in intermediate pipe.

How can a car pick up more boost with a wastegate and boost control valve in the equation? I thought they would limit the amount of boos the car will make.

It all comes down to flow. Even with the gate, the less restriction and better flow of the exhaust will affect spool characteristics. THe gate is just a valve that flows air past it. Change the exhaust back pressure after the gate and there will be a difference.

They are like 250 each .I just have one. I think they are worth the money. The rattling of the qtp and the dmh got on my nerves.I am picky though.

Boost control valves are Proportional controllers only, not Feedback. Change any one part of the system and the boost pressure will change too.

I have dual cutouts and when i open them the car feels totally different it pulls way harder! So in my opinion I say they do make a difference!!
