Default The feel of FI

I have an 05 GTO and prior to it I owned a 94 FD3S. I had to sell it because of work situations but I am at that point where I have a better job that doesn't require me to lug around equipment anymore and at that point where the next mod I do on my GTO is going to be big (FI) so heres is what I have been debating.

I miss the turbo feel of the FD3S and the car in general (how light and fun it was to drive) and so I was thinking of picking up an LSX FD3S (450rwhp in a 2850lbs car) or a single turbo MKIV Supra or keeping the GTO and adding some kind of FI.

I was wondering what's the difference in "feel" between turbos and superchargers. I've driven/driven in my friends basically stock APS TT GTO and I loved the feel/power he had. I rode in a 112 Maggie 2004 GTO and I felt that my headers/cam setup pulled a lot harder than his setup and wasn't impressed at all.

Car is a daily driver and want to keep up/beat exotics/other modded cars.

Sparknotes: Should I buy an LS1 FD3S, MKIV Supra or keep the GTO. If I keep the GTO, should I go turbos or supercharger.

Sounds like your a turbo guy, APS has the TT kit for the GTO.

Modding the GTO would be a bit cheaper then say getting into a MKIV supra by alot. Either the supra or modding the GTO would be cheaper/more reliable then the FD (boost in, apex seals out lol).

Buy a lsx FD, you wont be let down! I have one with an cammed ls6 and a stalled auto and cant say enough good things about it. Here is a quick video of me against a full bolt on Gto before I stuck the cam in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=274r3a0ZF1c

I actually saw that video earlier today and thought the GTO was stock.

Full bolt ons as in headers/cam/exhaust/intake/intake manifolds etc etc?

What were your mods and how much power you putting down?

It had full bolt ons according to the owner, he ran a 12.6 to my 11.8. That was with the stock ls6 and f-body manifolds. I never dynoed it back then but it went 11.7 with a 1.56 60ft. I have since added a cam and will be adding a 150 shot to get that 60ft down some more.

The only turbo kits we have for the GTO are APS/GenTTR/STS

Only 3 GTO's used the OFI kit and they all reported problems with the kit which is the reason why they are not sponsored anymore on the GTO forums.

Had an STS on my Camaro and helped tune my friend's Procharged Camaro. Procharger is hard hitting and feels like a H/C cam on steroids. He has the EPP cam + 317's, so that added to the feel.

My STS felt like a naturally aspirated HC car till 3000RPM, then it felt like an invisible hand was trying to shove me into the back seat after that

Both cars were pushing 5-7PSI boost.

The SC car was probably more suited for DD duties, but I still miss the "feel" of the turbo kicking in.

i have a dsc-1 procharger kit on my car. bought it from bob at epp. on a stock motor at 8psi it will put down 550rwhp. that is a safe psi . some run 11psi and get 600+rwhp. they are faster than the 112 maggie set up. they pull harder up top. maggie pulls harder on the bottom end but run out of power up top. now the 122 maggie does not run out up top. you may like it better. i have a buddy who has a gtt twin turbo set up. he has had problems with it. bad installer. but when running it hauls ***.
