Default Convertor

How big of a stall do I need for a 5.3 with twin turbo's on it. This is going to be a daily/street driven car. Not looking for a coan or any other high dollar convertor since the car is not going to get raced much.

What is a good cam to get for this build? I was told the stock LS6 cams work great but I don't know which car to get it from

motor:
5.3 motor
317 6.0 heads
ls6 intake
55 pound injectors

You need to give a lil more facts than that. Turbo size, comp. housing, exhaust housing, cam size weight of car and so on before we can recommend a converter. As far as you saying nothing high dollar, if you want it to last you might want to call coan racing and talk to them. Call and ask for Walker he has helped me in the past and have had nothing but good service.

It all depends on what you want out of it. If you want a daily driver / cruiser then you want to keep your stall speed down. If you want a all out stall that is designed to run at the track then it all depends on where your tq and hp are at RPM wise.

What transmission are you using? th400?4l60?4l80?

Certain companys are better then others when it comes to combos.

If your using a 4l60, try PI or YANK.

For a th400/glide, try coan/PTC/chance

The converter is where your ET is at, dont go cheap on one.

I guess I forgot to put the transmission, it is going ot be a 4L60.

All stock 5.3 with a set of 317 heads 55 pound injectors, LS6 intake and Cam. I don't know when the HP/tq will be until everything is done and on the dyno. I just need to know how big of a stall I need, I know all about spending money on convertors. I sold a 67 camaro a few months ago that made 2000 hp and I still have about 5 convertors in my shop from changing them out. I know Nitrous but this is my 1st turbo car

The turbo kit is a ptk kit I bought for my Corvette with twin 40's

This is going in my 92 Mustang GT:

There is a place here in Houston that will build my convertor for 1k and gives 1 year warranty. I'm going to go with them once I get the car going and tuned.

I was just saying 1k but I was told I could get it cheaper...

Let me know about your Yank, we can work something out if the price is right.

I have a 5.3L w/ 317 heads, and a single GT45, I use a 4000 stall and couldnt go less. Had a place try and build me a custom one to "their" likings which I argued and said it wouldnt work...put it in and well....it didnt work. 3000 stall stalled at idle and wouldnt make boost til 45mph and went from 0-45mph in like 20 seconds.

Depending on the cam/gears/rpm band, is where your want your desired stall speed. I would say call a converter company and just go over what your doing, they normally will work with you to figure it out.

For a street car id say something like a 2800-3200 depending on how loose you like em.

one word....TRANSBRAKE. if your converter is loose enough to make very much boost against the footbrake, you will blow through it on the big end. you want a tight converter and use the t-brake/2-step to make launch boost.
