How would these compare to the GTK-850 ??
I'm in the process of a 427 LSX build & have twin 850's going on it. Wanting to make well over the 1000hp mark . Whats your thoughts ??

Yup...you are correct. I remember Jason taking that picture. I will see if I can dig it up.

Wouldn't be close. The GTK's will not support near the power of the newer units.

twin gtk 850's = twin hp72's with out the surge slots ( and black comp cover coating)
twin 72's on 427 should make 1000+ easy

Thought I was on the rite track with my selection of the 850's . Just wasn't sure where they stood in regards to what has been mentioned in the thread.

The biggest problem I have with the Turbonetics is no flow data for my selected turbo's . I so hate choosing so blindly on such an expensive combo.

All the manufactures are like that now. You won't find maps for Tnetics, PTE or most other companies that deal with aftermarket. Garrett, BW and Holset do have them though since they provide turbos for OEM's and they have to provide a CW/TW-map.

Their are maps available, but not for public use or viewing.

Am I missing something ?? My GTK-850's have surge slots & black cover.

Also where I get lost with you guys talking turbo's is that you all seem to talk wheel size in the US , whereas over here we talk turbo specs such as GT 35/82 . So when you guys say 76 what would be the specs on this wheel ?

yep 76 is the compressor wheel size. The TC76 now has a larger better turbine wheel to. All in the same small package.

?
gtk850 = T series comp cover, bullet drilled surge slots, black coated, hp72mm compressor wheel , BB, F1 -68 turbine wheel, with .81 a/r tang housing, T4

T72 = hp72 compressor wheel, t series comp cover polished, BB or journal, F1-68 turbine, any a/r housing that suits F1-68 turbine wheel , oncentre or Tang housing, T4

and the problem is ?

the only different is the bullet drilled surge slots basicly , which helps the turbo spool / recover on shifts or pedals

I know tell me about it. However I have been very pleased with my TC76 with the little 68mm wheel. It does work fine for me on the street. It might choke a little bit up top with backpressure I think my valve springs can feel it. It runs like a raped ape though. If I ever take it off I will upgrade to the 76mm wheel and larger 1.15 housing since I currently have the .96 housing.

Man I'm so up in the air right now on turbos, I have a 370 tc78 setup now, but I want more! I'm between redoing my whole setup and getting a borg warner or a pt gts 76 or waiting for this turbonectics unit! Ugh I guess if I wait it'll be worth it but dam I hate waiting!!!

DrTurbo..

I'm about to order a TC turbo from you for my 5.3L 240sx build.

Which turbo for a 5.3L, 243 heads, and a 216/221 .580 Lunati stealth cam in a 2700lb 240sx with a TH350??

TC72, TC76, or TC78???

What am I looking at for spool difference between the 3 turbos?

Thanks

My guess would be tc78, the tc76 is just about the same as the 78 but slightly smaller. I would go with a tc78 .96 and you would be good for a safe 650whp.
I may sell my tc78 if this new turbo was ready in the next two weeks.
