Default What gear should I use?????

What gear should I use for my car????? I have an STS rear mount turbo, the car is a rocket in 3rd and 4th, but comes spools late in 2nd, and only hits 4# of boost in first (unless I brake boost)

I killed the rear end in the car tonight, and was thinking I should go to a 3.23 rear end. I am assuming that will help a ton... What do you think????

I would think that could help! Are you just rebuilding the 10 bolt?

Nope, going to just try and find a used 3.23 rear. Screw rebuilding it, as cheap as they are going, I'll try to pic up another. Guhh, I want a 12 bolt so bad! No cash though

Keep boosting without it being tuned and you'll break the motor too.

You can get lingenfelter thing to help it spool off the line with the two step and it has antilag which can also help off the line. Its pretty cheap like 279.

there is a lot of debate on what works best for turbos and spool up for gears.Keep hearing how the lower gears like 3.08 and all that are best but there were tons of very fast cars on the boosted lists with 3.73 and 4.10 gears. Didn't seem to hurt them any and would be better gears off boost. I think am going middle with 3.54 but 3.73 is still pulling on me. Can't go under 3.54 with S60 anyway.

Be curious to see how it helps if you do go 3.23.

I used to have 4.11 now I have 3.25, no comparison, if you have an STS the lower gears (rear end) will help out ALOT on building boost in the lower gears (tranny). They will also help with Fuel Economy on the highway cruising. Depending on the torque/hp you might want to consider 3.00, 3.25 or 3.50. With my car now, i think I would even be fine with 2.7X or 3.0X. First gear is basically useless when the boost hits, but still has lots of torque for just driving around.
