Worlds First Butt Mount CTS-V
I Just wanted to say hello, and i'll be lurking around here more often,
do to my venture of the worlds first remote mount turbo cts- "V".
my build date is the 2nd week in Nov. and all funds for the parts
have been allowcated. Mongillo Motors and myself have commited to
getting this "one off" project up and running soon.
Any imput would be fun to disscuss, and all ideas and or advice is
appreciated as well, as we still have yet to determine the final details
untill it goes on the lift, at said time.

cost isnt worth the effort. the simplest answer is that there isnt another
one (thats known) in existance. also, my power level goal is not to exceed
550 rwhp.
what i personally want is an american sport sedan to spank the best
representitives that european car makers can offer for 1/3 of the money.
my total investment after turbo install will be under 40k.
31K for an 06 with 10,227mi. and full factory wrrnty.
7k for custom butt mount and meth injection.

as far as the 7k, it covers everything. ALL parts & labor.
for people who dont know who they are, here is one of thier
custom installs...it speaks for itself.

1. The cold section piping crosses the exhaust in 2 different places. That will add a LOT of heat to the intake charge. That + the exhaust pipe was dented just prior to the turbine to allow the intake to be routed this way = a restriction in the exhaust and a source of turbulence right before the hot section of the turbine.
2. No FMIC. See there is meth, but with piping run in a manner to pick up exhaust heat......well.....the IAT's have to be cooking hard in traffic (since meth is designed to spray when producing boost). A FMIC wil at least lower IAT's during daily driving when at part-throttle.
3. Exhaust isn't wrapped. Result is far from optimal spool times.
Otherwise it looks ok. Gauge integration was done very well. Welding looked clean. Definetly different.
BTW, my $0.02 is to go with a Maggie. STS has inherent problems that need addressing (oil return, heat, etc) They can be fixed, but require additional $$ and labor (for example using a Mocal pump for the return, wrapping the entire exhaust, adding a FMIC, PCV venting, etc.) Ground clearance will rpobably be a problem for you as well. The maggie will give off-idle performance, which for a streetar looking to stomp on exotics at 1/3 the price is perfect for you.
On the counterpoint, get it together right, tuned properly, and don't knock the charge pipes off on a speedbump......the STS is fun to drive. I enjoyed it when I had it.....but my wife and kids did not enjoy me always having to adjust/fix it.
Good luck.......just sharing a little experiene w/ you.

All you rear mont haters why dont you stay out of the rear mount threads ,its getting annoying to hear you guys bash them all the time . When your set up was probably all half assed and didnt do the required things to make it work .

I agree on the fact that at least with EPP, you know you're getting a quality product and quality install. The problem is getting yourself to keep the boost down so you don't have to spend another $10k on other upgrades.
As with anything, the modding cycle never ends and there's always a weak link that could use some upgrading.
and it's nice to see people can be optimistic about things that,
(allthough might not be for them) are different from conventional main
stream installs. i opted for the rear mount because i've been around the block
a few times and wanted something off the deep end thats doable, and
like most of you said, going to get me in a money train wreck.
this car will never see a 1/4 track or be beat to death as it were a civic.
as this isnt the car for "the fastest car on the block" type of build, as
stated with the rear end issues, and added cost pertaining to that kind of venture.
here is another custom install...sts may supply the hardwear,
ie: turbos, oiling system...but everything else is fabricated on site.
