Default Rear mount closed oil system

Does anyone have a closed oiling system in the rear? If so could you post some pictures and ideas on what you would have done to make it better, easier, or cheaper. I'm just wondering why I haven't seen a container with the pump and an oil cooler mounted near by. It seems to me that it would be a pretty cheap and easy alternative to drilling and tapping the pump. Any thoughts?

We have one of our guys running a closed system. Basically he has twin 88s mounted in the trunk with two drains going straight into a tank. He runs one of our pumps to pull from the tank and feed to -4 lines going to the turbo.

I have not heard back to confirm that it works perfect, but I suspect it will. The other issue is oil TEMP. Cold oil sucks, so you would look into running a heater to bring the oil up to temp faster. This will thin it out and help with oiling the center sections.

That's funny. I would think you would need an oil cooler because of the heat of the turbo. I don't see what the difference would be getting cold oil from the motor or getting it from a tank and then the turbo heating it up.

Possible, but think about the amount of oil you have and how little time it spends in the turbo.

-4 Line running at 10-30psi is a good amount of oil, but really, feeding out of a 1-2quart system it would take a long time to heat up. I am not suggesting you run the heater full time but having it on the heat the oil would be optimal.

Or you could run an oil thermostat that only opened the cooler when the oil reached temp. They aren't expensive. But I agree about the cool oil part. You'd want a temp gauge on there so you didn't get on it until the oil was up to temp.

A water cooled turbo would also help bring the temps up but then keep them under control.

i use an engine oil supply, much simpler and much more reliable.
