Question To procharge or not?

I've been debating over the past few months if I should Procharge my Camaro or not? I pretty much have everything I need, just been busy with other things to install it. I've always wanted a Procharger on my Camaro, but do I really need all that power since I don't race? (Well barely ever)

The car has LT headers, 3200 Stall, and other minor bolt ons with 28,000 miles. Here are all the major parts I have and was planning to put in.
Procharger P1SC-1 kit (6rib)
42.5 injectors
Futral F7 Cam
Patriot dual springs
Comp hardened pushrods
LS2 Timing Chain

*Still need the fans and fuel pump.

My main concern is reliability, I'd like to take it on lets the hot rod power tour long haul and be fine. I'd be happy with 500rwhp but no more then 550rwhp since I read this is basically the breaking point. I don't wanna do a forged block because I don't wanna take out the motor nor do I want to dump in more money. I know a lot say boost is addicting, but honestly I'd be happy with 400rwhp, I just have always wanted a supercharger

Just had to get that off my chest

Well if you didnt have half the stuff you already have i would say leave it as is because its already a very SWEET ride and you will never get as reliable as a naturally aspirated stock block/bolt-on LSX engine. Forced induction or any other power adder does increase wear and tear but when you think about it EVERYTHING will eventually be put thru wear and tear stock or not, **** just braks thats how life is. Like i said, you already have easily about 75% if not way more than the parts you need and you only live once, so screw it and install that bad boy. It wil make your camaro THAT much nicer, and will have that much more neck breaking capacity when pple who know wtf cars are catch that distinct procharger whistle, but only if they're paying attention. Plus you will have the power to keep up with some of the newer or faster cars that are currently running around your neck of the woods which is always a plus. I'd say 500rwhp is a nice round number and should keep you reliable and happy for a good while. "Nike - Just Do It!!!" Good Luck either way man!

I'd do it, I've done it! lol Back in '02 we installed a D-1SC 6 rib (all that was available at the time) on my '99 Z28. It had 110,000 miles on it at the time. I had no problems with it at all. I have the piece parts that you need listed on my website at this link.

yes, yes you do.

go ride in a blown ls1 and see how you like it.

it does take some work to get it right but its worth it. its so much fun just watching the speedo needle jump as the boost buils.

fenix999 - Procharger cars are awesome, thus the reason I finally bought everything. And your right about the newer cars with having more power... kinda like keeping up with the jonses still wanna be faster if I have to. Thanks for the compliment too.

Bob - Thanks, I've contacted you guys before about the minor parts I needed.

02NBMFormula - Thats what most people tell me when I bring up this question . Been in a lot of blown Mustangs and 427 F-bodies, no blown F-bodies though.

Do it!!!! Seriously though Im sure you know but you should take into consideration a new rear and tranny/converter, which you might need at 500 rwhp. I would do it though in a heartbeat.

Yep I know about the rear end and trans. I've been looking at a few built 4l60e's already. The rear I'll probably keep stock for a while since I won't be taking it to the track nor will it have a sticky tire.

I havent got to drive my car that much because of maxing out my fuel system. When I first got it back from tuning I was really amazed. I went from a cam only (370rwhp) car to a h/c 370 with a D1SC. I cant wait until I can actually get on it full blast at about 15 psi. Its at 570rwhp @ 7psi and it is a hell of alot of fun to drive. Do it and you wont regret it!

Thanks for the offer Bob. I tend to enjoy installing everything myself though . Granted the Fuel pump seems like a pain!

If you think your car feels slow right now, the blower will put a smile back on your face. You should be a 10 second car after the blower.

Its not to bad, could use more of a kick. If I hit 10's I'd be happy. When I drove a Formula with a C5R 427, that was quite fun .

We have one of our Magnuson F-body kits available. If your interested in a roots style blower, e-mail or P.M. me and we can probably save you money as well.
