Default Who has a F3 procharger with gear drive on a 4th gen?

I know Brady is doing it on his BBC with a F3R, Is there anyone here doing it with a LSx in a 4th gen? Do you have Pics I could see of your setup? I have some crazy ideas but want to see what mods need to be done to get there.

Thanks,
Dan

I almost started a geardrive/LSX project because it looks very good for high power without broken belts, and also is better for the blower because of the lack of side load on the input. NMCA rules don't allow it in EX/S, or it would have happened.

Hi Kurt, good to hear from you. Is it the gear drive thats not allowed, or the F3? BTW, is your email and phone numbers still the same? I may need to call you soon.

I'm not aware of any LSx 4th gens with a gear drive on it. I know Bob is doing one in a tube-chassis GTO, but that's it.

Yeah, I took a look at that GTO, what an animal that is going to be. I did see a third gen setup with a blow thru on it as well, and a few mustangs.

The way it mounts to a ls1, you might consider making a brace on it. Im not too sure it would stay on with a good wheelie.

Good point! Hope the wheels don't come up more than a couple inches though . You guys see any reason it won't fit in there? I was thinking a F3A 117 plus a gear drive. Also, do you still need an intercooler with C16? Be nice to not need one.

I would still run one, guys with carbs can get away with it, but there is power on the table if you dont. Swap it over to alky and be done with it lol.

Anything will fit with a long enough saw blade or plasma cutter. Not much room for a radiator. The f3 is a BIG unit for sure, with a gear drive and custom balancer it will kick it out a good 7-8in + whatever the blower is. So you will be close to the bumper so you can run a peice of pipe out the nose.

It is HEAVY and is out far on the nose, if your running a motor plate then you can brace it to the body as well.

Good deal. Looks like the the upper and lower brace will need to modified plus the use of one or two small radiators. I like the idea of the inlet going straight out the front bumper too. No alcohol for me, but that would be one way to go. Yes, a motor plate will be a must. If, this works out, I'll have to see if I can get rid of my new un-used complete OFI kit and S91. If I keep it, I will change it up a little still.

Its pricey to do a big blower, the gear drive i think is around $3k + around 5k for a blower + a custom balancer (dual keyways + hardened hub)

Its the gear drive and the F3. We submited a F1R with gear drive and they said no, belts only. Working on the engine with belt now, but hoping for a rule change this winter!

My cell phone is still the same and also my AOL e-mail kuperf@aol.com

Yes it is, but doesn't seem much more, if any than the turbo setup. I see a couple brand new F3R for sale for 3-$3.5k on yellow bullet, but that is bigger than I want to go.

Yeah, be nice to see a rule change on that. I may think about doing an F2R instead of the F3A. I should give you a call and see what you think about all this.

I didn't know that either. Thanks!
