Default Fuel Pressure Bleeding Down...Problems Starting...wtf?

This has been one of the most frustrating things on my car by far. I have been having issues starting my car where I will turn the key and have to hold it for 2-4 seconds before it fires off.

Sometimes, it will catch and sputter up to about 200 rpms and then die immediately and I will have to crank again. Its a 50/50 shot as to whether I will have a problem or not, doesn't matter if its cold start or hot. Did a Pressure Check and the car gets up to around 55 or 60 and then bleeds down rather quickly, but after pulling my injectors, noticed that no fuel is leakin out, so they should still be good.

This has been ongoing for several months now and has now just started getting real bad. I have a Walbro pump but I am thinking it has nothing to do with that since my pump would have probably died by now.

What could it be?!?

Thanks!

-Karl

I'm confused by what you mean by pulling the injectors.

What you describe sounds like a classic case of 1 or more injectors stuck open. I'd recommend sending them in to have them serviced. Were having a special right now on V8 sets, $89.00 for our full restoration.

I pulled the injectors up off the intake while i turned the key and no fuel spilled out of the injectors which would indicate according to my buddy that the injector seals are still good.

I had this exact same problem in my GTO. I suspected the regulator was bad at first, however after checking the return line no flow was noted while the pressure was leaking.

The problem turned out to be in my fuel tank. The hose I used to connect the walbro output to my fuel system was split. when the key was turned on the pump built up pressure and as long as the car was running all was ok.....however with no flow demand the pressure was bleeding off rapidly.....would only take 5-8 seconds to go from 60psi-10 or 15.

Luckily I had enough line, to where I just cut off the bad end, and hooked everything back up......problem solved!

Same thing happened to me on my other car, same issue as b727pic, the line in the tank had split and was bleeding fuel back into the tank and obviously not enough through the lines. It didn't like starting and sometimes would die at a stop. After I replaced the line, good as new.
