Default duty cycle??
i recently had my car tuned with HP tuners. i have a fair share of mods for stock injectors. according to the wideband it is getting enough fuel. however, where should my duty cycle be at? i read that some peoples are 100 and others are 80 or so. i don't know what i am striving for? i have heard that the cars often make more power with higher duty cycles and i know they can be easier to tune if the injectors are not too big. any input would be great.

Rule of thumb is not to exceed 80%. If your consistently over this threshold you need to look at larger injectors.

They work most accuratly between 20 to 85%.

what is the disadvantage of the valve being closed or if it is no longer pulsing?

you are spraying fuel onto the back of the valve where it puddles, if its no longer pulsing then you have reached the max for that injector, and a lean condition is imminent.
