Default Spectra fuel pump upgrade

The specs for my Spectra GM32BFI EFI fuel tank pump are 85-115 PSI / 50-60 GPH...

Trying to determine if the pump output will be adequate for my HP application... My question is, if you regulate the pressure of this pump down to 58 PSI (with vette filter/ regulator) will the output still be 50-60 GPH?

If no, do they make a direct fit pump upgrade for my application? I will be in the 450 RWHP range.

Thanks in advance..

I run one of their tanks in my car, check my sig. You should be able to put a Walbro in if you need one.

Hey! Another Michigander.. We should be close to the same horsepower? Are you using the stock Spectra pump that came in it? What Injectors are you running? Thanks.

Stock pump, I have been running 39lb @58 psi injectors, going up to 48@58 psi. I just did a cam swap and I was running the 39's at 97% duty cycle.

No, the only time I ever got on a dyno I had some valve spring issue and stopped. It had 390 rhwp but the I cut the run off. It was probably good for 410-425 rwhp. The new setup is a lot better. My injector duty cycle went from 80% to 97% so it making more power and it feels better as well. New injector are supposed to be here tomorrow night and then back to tuning. Hopefully the weather holds out a bit longer.

The new cam is a 234/246 setup so it a lot more aggressive.

Sounds nice.. Have you ever had any starvation issues with your tank? I have read quite a few posts where guys said they would lose pick-up and stall in corners, when less than 1/2-1/4 a tank..

No starvation issues, I usually don't go much below a 1/4 tank anyways. The last time at the strip I filled up when I left and it only had 2 gallons left and I did not have any issues.

Are they as good as a modern fuel tank in a new car, no, do they work for hot rods, yes.

Still good feedback on this? I would love to pick up a tank for under $500... I have a l76 (6.0 Liter w/ L92 heads) that I am putting into my 69 camaro. If this setup works for you it should be safe for me.

Thanks,
Chris

No problems with the tank or sending unit. I did upgrade the pump after my last cam swap. The pump that comes with it is good but I went up to a higher volume Walbro. Dropped right in.
