Going FI question on 60lb and 80lb injectors
Hi all, I'm going with a single turbo setup this winter. It's going to be a turbonetics TC78 on a stock ls1 at 8lbs of boost. Hoping for 500whp+. My plan is to build up the engine a bit next winter to increase boost and go for 700ish whp. I'm trying to figure out the best fueling solution for my short and long term goal so that I don't hit a ceiling later. If i go with 80lb injectors now with the dual walbro setup will I have any drivability issues only pushing 500whp with this fueling setup? If there isn't going to be a consequence to getting the 80s over the 60's then I'm just going to get those so I know I won't have any issue later. Price difference is nothing. Thanks for the advice.

80# injectors may pose an idle problem on a stock LS1 motor. 60's are marginal with idle tuning on a stock bottom end vehicle.
If building a complete fuel system, we may be able to alter your fuel pressure enough to work in a stock application.
Feel free to contact me about a dual pump kit or fuel sysem for this application.

I run 80's with no idle problems at all. My motor however is a 408CI. I'm actually out of injector with more Turbo left at this point. Keep in mind that I'm at 906RWHP through a TH400. My fuel pressure is as high as I dare go. I have a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator also.

Your engine size has a lot to do with the idle flow requirements, plus I suspect you are not running a stock cam either....
The 18% larger engine makes the 80's equivalent to 67's in a stock 346.
Add in the larger cam, increased idle speed & air flow, & you can easily see why 80's will work so well in a built 408.
Your 906rwhp though an unlocked auto corresponds pretty well to the limits of the 80's.
A stick car may see an additional 100rwhp on the same injector.
