Default Injector change help needed!

Ok I dont know if I am just slow or what but I have searched and searched and it seems noone has a writeup or anything on how to swap injectors on an LS1. SO...can anyone tell me how hard it is to do? It seems like I could just disconnect the fuel rails, pull them out, and swap injectors. Am I incorrect? I am thinking the reason there is no thread about this is possibly because it is really easy and I am the only helpless person that can't figure it out. Anyone wanna straighten me out on this tell me how its done?

Thanks, Charlie

just like you said, relieve the fuel psi first at the shrader valve. have a fire extinguisher handy, and before you do anything disconnect the battery and remove it from the car.

Alright doesnt sound too bad. Where is the shrader valve located? I've done small work on the car but a good friend of mine has done all the engine stuff for me for really cheap and I know he knows his stuff so I leeve most things to him.
Fire extinguisher?? Def see why its a good idea but I pray that wont be needed!

Use a compressor and blow off the intake manifold surface, concentrating on the injector bosses...get all the dirt away so it doesn't go down into the heads.

If you don't have a compressor, a ShopVac does a decent job if you use a soft brush to lift the loose dirt.

The schrader valve is located at the front of the driver side fuel rail, under a plastic screw-on cap. Looks and functions like a big tire valvestem.

Alright I can handle doing that stuff myself. So basically be careful of dirt or anything getting in and close the shrader valve. Then unscrew the two bolts holding on the fuel rails and injectors and they will just pop out if I pull it up evenly?

yes you are correct.. 2 bolts per side on the fuel rails for 4 total.. what size injector are you running now and what size are you switching in? You should NOT drive the car if the injectors are a lot bigger than the ones you have now and you have no new tune for them fyi

Currently I am running the stock injectors (so whatever comes stock on a 99t/a) and will be switching out to 42lb green top injectors. I actually dont think I am gonna drive it as I talkd to the guy who built the car back at home and I am going to pull the ecu and send it to him and we are going to have the guy who tuned the car do the ecu for the new injectors. So it basically wont be driven with the bigger injectors until the redone ecu is in the car

Add a smear of "sneaky cream" to each inj o'ring. Lots less chance of cutting 1 when re-installing.
