Question GM 42# Injectors ?

1st, I'm a rookie on this subject...that being said. I was told today that the SVO 30# injectors have a totally different spray pattern than what comes in our cars. Also, this pattern is NOT as good compared to the GM (don't know who makes them) injectors. Where can I research the GM style injectors and does any of this make sense or mean a thing in the big picture of a 383 stroker project?

The Gm 42# injectors are made by Bosch. Here is a good thread on their characteristics. It's titled "Lucas" but they get into the GM 42#s. Also, Pro Stock John has run these he may have some info. Hey PSJ!!

42# Inj

As they are the same design you can run your stock injector offset table . I run these injectors and use my stock offset. I bought mine thru GMPP - but I don't think they still carry them. The part no. is in the above thread. David Farmer on the CorrvetteForum board ran these on his World Challenge car....maybe he has some for sale??

Hope this helps some.

My recollection was that both are bosch and had similar spray patterns. The s/c 3800 injectors were not really 42's, at least at the LS1 fuel pressure. And the SVO 42 # injectors are more like 49 @ 60psi. Early on, the f.i. crowd (including Harlan) used the smaller 3800's before the SVO 42's became the defacto standard for f.i. up to 600rwhp. the SVO's are often called "green tops". in the past it's been esay to pick up green tops for 400 or less.

You should base your injector choice on the fueling needs of your engine, do some searches on the internet and you'll find the formulas. Both of these bosch injectors are safe choices, which one is right for you depends on your engine's power level.

The power level will be under 500rwhp N/A. I spray it with a 150 shot once and again. So I'd be OK with either?

Jim

I don't remember what the 3800's were good to and my links are long gone. You should really run the numbers or have someone with recent hands-on tell you. I sold a set of unused 3800's to a tuner on this board named Mikey for a clients car about 3 yrs ago.

I do remember my stock '00 injectors hit 100% just below 400rwhp, and other have said 98's were good for nearly 450...so my guess is that you'd be fine at 500 without a dry shot.

Isn't hearsay great? I bought SVO 30# because I heard that they had the same spray pattern and impedence and design and such as our stock injectors, unlike say Lucas.
