Question E-85 worth it in my case?

I want to know if switching to E-85 is worth it... I know it benefits forced induction cars, but what about N/A and Nitrous applications?? What has to be done to convert a fbody over to E-85? I've talked with several tuners and they say it's not worth it unless its forced induction.

If you did switch from 93 to E-85 and had it tuned for it would it show minimal gains?
For nitrous, doesn't seem beneficial.

The conversion is fairly basic. Larger injectors, maybe a larger fuel pump, tuning hardware/software that will allow you to adjust the fuel/ignition tables and ethanol preventative maintenance.

If your build is high compression and could benefit from aggressive timing, then you would see a performance gain, but not near to the point the S/C'd and turbo'd guys are.

Remember to change your filter after your first tank as it's going to clean out the bottom of your fuel tank.

I Guess you could consider Nitrous Forced Induction. E85 is good for Nitrous applications too, Nitrous requires higher octane gas. The Price of Race gas vs E85 is a no brainer.

Even with the lower MPG From E85, its still cheaper to run than Race Gas.

Its not the case just yet with 91octane. But when Gas prices go out of control you could already be ahead of the game. Plus dont you wanna save the Polar bears..

Im Going to run E85 as soon as my swap is done.

id say n/a will benefit least unless its high compression but i think with nitrous it would be very beneficial due to being able to run more timing total on and off the bottle so it wont be a dog on motor

Ofcourse its good for nitrous... More timing can be run thus more power.
He's really the only one to know if it will benefit his situation. How often would he run NOS, how many stations around him etc....all these play a factor if it's worth it to the user.

Normal gain is 3-5% on a NA setup in most cases.

My buddy gained 25rwhp/25rwtq approx switching from 91 octane to e85. He has a 440ci LS7 with TFS 245cc heads I believe and the cam isn't too crazy.

It certainly is cheaper than running race gas; however more of a PITA as very few stations carry it.

He is making approx 565rwhp with one of the new intank single Aeromotive 340lph fuel pumps!
