Default Can you have too much injector?

Maybe it is a dumb question but can you have too big of injectors? I need aproximatly 60 lb injectors but found 80 lb injectors locally. I know you controll the injector with the tune but my concern is if you put a small amount of fuel through a big *** injector will it effect attomization?

Thanks again.

I looked up my thread from when I bought the motor and 50 lb injectors were the recomendation. Only making the gap larger from what I "need" to the local ones for sale.

Depends on the setup.. Idle quality will be an issue.

Call Lonnies I'm sure he will tell you to go with the 50's

The concesus was 60 lb injectors would be around 80% duty cycle(47lb at 43.5 I think) at full throttle.

Idle isn't a big deal becaust the truck will be an occational weekend toy and mostly a track fun toy.

How much are injectory pig tails if needed and where would I get them?

Here are the injectors.

I am guessing they will be way too much since they are 80 lb at 43.5 psi. My presure is 58.

this is why people use a Fuel pressure regulator.

you probably could have gotten the 80# injectors to idle just fine, providing the manufacturer/vendor you bought them from has or can get all the injector data you need.

for instance, I'm running Injector Dynamics ID725 which are 725 cc injectors with if you convert that...69 LB/hr at 43.5psi and I'm running them at 58psi which makes them 79 LB/hr and they idle perfectly. this was all on a LS1 (setup in sig) and my peak duty cycle was 72 %

I don't care to add another big cost by way of an aftermarket regulator. Therefore factory psi is going to work best for me. These are 80 lbs at 43.5 psi therefore crazy flow at 58.

The big question still hasn't been answered. Can I run them at low enough duty cycle to work and still get good atomization?

Sure, you can have something that is too big. I would run 60s if that is what you really need, the 80s are certainly more sloppy down low than the 60s are.

The 60's and 80's idle just fine. For your setup the 60's would be more than enough at 60lbs of pressure.

if your tuner is competent 8's would be no problem at all. i had 160's in my sbf/turbo setup and it drove damn near like stock

big cost...aftermarket regulator isn't that expensive. Sorry for dancing around your question. If a tuner can tweak and knows enough about injector tuning/tables then I see no reason why the 80's wont work. I however will have to ask/say for the performance curves on the injectors to see how low they can actively operate. Sorry, engineer in me.
