one of my cars was molested too. I welded it all back up. Dropping the tank is really not that hard at all (and I sumped the tank fo an external pump

I have never seen it done cleanly. I was intending on fabricating a small aluminum access door for mine but then didn't do it because of the sumped tank. Please someone post a pic of a clean access door or something.

My buddy used his air nibbler to cut mine, didn't cut the whole thing out just kinda made a flap. Mines an 01 though and by the looks of it my sender is in a slightly different location. I used strip caulk to seal it back up, looks alright but hell its under the carpet who cares lol. Maybe when I get bored this summer Ill make a nice access panel like above.

Go buy a '98 and try replacing the pump or doing anything with the tank then come back and talk about how we just "like hacking **** up". It's not something I was excited to do but dropping the tanks in these cars is an incredible PITA. Besides, it's all covered up by a nice looking stainless steel plate and carpet over that. And if you ever go turbo, then you will learn the true meaning of hacking **** up

Are the pump locations mostly the same throughout the years? Mine's a 99 T/A, I have access to a sheetmetal shop for free so I don't have any issues doing this the right way. I just don't want to cut a hole and find out I need to make it bigger cause I missed the spot..
