Default Gas Gauge Issue

I have a 98 Z28, I bought it about 2 weeks ago and the gauge has not worked since. I pulled the sending unit and checked the ohms and it reads correctly as I move the float. The gauge stays at Full, when I turn the ign off it sometimes goes to 3/4. I pulled the cluster, set it at E and turned the key on and it went right back to Full. I have searched and all I have seen are instances where the sending unit are bad. Im not sure what else to check. Any ideas?

I wired up a auto meter fuel level gauge today and it went straight to full.. so im thinking my sending unit is bad and its not reading the ohms right and i thought it was..

Somebody else told me that it was probably the fuel sending unit...I changed it last year (AC Delco) and I'm really not looking forward to changing it again. Are you planning to change yours soon? If so, could you please let me know if it fixed your problem? Thanks.

I have not replaced it yet, but i had the needle set on the E mark then turned the ign on and it went straight back to full. I know its the sending unit now though after I wired up a aftermarket gas gauge..

Okay, I finally was able to obtain another fuel sending unit. I replaced it and the fuel gauge now works fine.
