Sorry if I wasn't clear with my wording. I said "toward" a real fuel rail with the intention that if you ever want to move past this level of power any money spent converting the stock rail to have a return and regulator would only be removed when changing to an aftermarket rail.
I don't even look at what just a rail costs, Lonnie's perfomance has a system double pumper system thats $1000, Includes -8 Supply & -6 Return lines, fuel rails, regulator, filter, & all fittings needed to connect to double pumper sending unit.
I know the OPs car very well. None of what we are talking about is necessarily for it =) It just has a history of not behaving.
If we were talking 20+psi and a 255 pump, then maybe this would be an issue but @ or below 15lbs, 60lb injectors + 340 pump and meth, if your all your parts are working then there is no issue.

Here is what I did. 97-98 vette rails, replaced the factory vette regulator on the rail with a f-body pulse damper, used the vette stainless lines, added a Fuelab mini regulator on the return side of the rails, ran a new 5/16 return line back to the hard line near the tank, and removed the regulator in the stock tank.
This could also be accomplished using the shrader valve port as well.

Did you install this 97 rail setup before or after you knew the Stock regulator would work 1:1 with boost.
For people that don't know the 97 rail was meant to have a rail based regulator that works great for boosted application, the original factory unit isn't adjustable but there are a select set of truck regulators that are adjustable. ( if you need to make changes to the pressure )
Sorry for the crappy pic.

The stock regulator is NOT 1:1 boost referenced, its basically vacuum referenced only.
I previously had an aftermarket adjustable regulator in the 97-98 stock rail location. I would only gain about 4-5psi of fuel pressure max when running 10psi boost.

Not trying to say you are wrong, just trying to get to the bottom of it. been a while since I've ran one and don't remember it being an issue. Im using a 97 rail with regulator but its not currently boosted so I can't just go out and check it.

Did you end up doing your own testing or did you find other research.

thought id throw mine up here since i did it lol
i used a 3/8 hard line instead of an hoses. too expensive lol just a slight pain to route to make it look pretty. that part took the longest. but the outcome was well worth the effort. its a solid line from front to back. im not sure how i did it lol but i did
