Just curious if anything better has come around in the last few years.

Nope, not for me. AC Delco X66P, Chevron Techron, BG 44K Platinum, Berryman's. Run good Top Tier most of the time and there won't be a need for these.

X2 on Techron. When I bought my 04 Tahoe it had 166k miles and I ran 2 bottles of Techron (hey, they had a BOGO sale on them...), one per tankful in 2 consecutive tanks, and response sharpened up noticeably, along with better economy. Since then I use Top Tier nearly all the time.. It works....

The techron is recommended by a lot of top shelf car manufacturers too.. I've always had good luck with it over the years..

E85 works pretty good to clean things up as well. It'll loosen up all the gunk and have to clean/replace your filter.

I've been using Red Line SI-1 for this purpose for ages now with great results, I prefer it over Seafoam or the others, but all the products mentioned above have always seemed to have good reviews.

I used the Techron at my old job on the newer stuff. All the carb cars got a cup of diesel per 20 gallons.

I remember in the 70's putting a quart of ATF in a (70 Mercury Monterey) 20 gal tank, then filling it and going on a 200 mile road trip. It was SUPPOSED to clean carbon out of the heads, etc. It was my grandmother's car, which normally was driven quite sedately. Not sure it really worked, but the high detergency was the reason for doing it.

Techron fuel injector cleaner IS very good stuff. Safe, effective, and WILL clean fuel injectors without ill effect.

Another very good product is Berrymans Chemtool B-12 Injection sytem cleaner which contains Toluene, Acetone, MethylEthylKetone, Methanol, and something like acetylbutyrate. B-12 is available in 1 gallon cans, and has an OCTANE rating of about 118 by my best estimate. A gallon of 100LowLead AvGas plus a gallon of Berryman's B-12 Chemtool mixed in a tank of pump gasoline WILL allow several more dgrees of spark advance in high load cells.
Seafoam is okay for outboard motors, and Lawn equipment.

Interesting! So if I dumped a full gallon of B-12 into my tank, then filled it, no harm to the system?
I imagine the fuel system WILL be spotlessly bereft of ANY varnish, barnacles, zits, or hiccups, plus all chambers rid of carbon!
I'm sorta kidding, but hey....

Interesting. I will have to look at this. I have been using Seafoam for over a decade.

What about engine top end cleaning? Is Seafoam Deep Creep still the go to for that?

Default SDS Is Your Friend.

Check out the SDS or safety data sheets (formerly known as MSDS) for these products to have a look at the ingredients. Some will list the chemical name and number and some will just say something like, hydrocarbon blend.” Most of the cleaners areeither isopropol alcohol, naphtha (paint thinner), or kerosene based. Seafoam is naphtha based. The “good” cleaners contain a percentage of polyetheramine (PEA) as an active indteditent. The benefit of PEA is that it can withstand combustion chamber temperatures where as naphtha etc csnnot. So the naphtha has already been burned up before it gets to the piston tops.
Yesterday I used this injector cleaning machine and this cleaner on my Z28. It was easy and maybe effective. The “machine” was $55.
