Default Throttle body angle

Anybody know if there’s a gen4 truck intake that doesn’t tilt the throttle body up like the one on my LH6? I’ve been looking but it’s hard to tell by pictures alone.

thanks!

All Gen IV cathedral head intakes are the same piece, so they will all angle upwards. What's the issue?

Using the engine in a sandrail and I’m turning the intake around backwards to keep the car as short as I can. The throttle body tilt is kinda making it challenging to route my intake tubes

Would a Gen III work? I don't know if it angles up, nor am I sure if it flows as much.

That intake is one of the very rare intakes. Its a gen 3 truck intake that uses a 4 bolt throttle body, they were mostly available on the gen 4 engines with DOD that still used a 24x wheel for a year or so before switching (LH6).

A standard gen 3 truck intake has a forward facing throttle body that doesn't angle up.

Thanks for the replies!

i really want to use the DBW cause it makes life a little easier so going gen3 is going to be a challenge and I’ve already purchased my Holley EFI kit for the DBW throttle body.

do all the gen 4 truck intakes tilt up like that?

Yes, they all tilt.

You can run a 4-bolt throttle body adapter and use a gen 3 truck intake with your current throttle body, or just switch to a gen 3 DBW throttle body if its compatible.

well that kinda blows.

thought about adapting already but i didn’t give it much thought because it’s just adding more thickness which will require me pushing the engine back.

Right now there’s just enough room to get a 4” 90 in between the throttle body and my fuel cell. if there wasn’t a tilt, I could gain some more space and the whole package would be shorter height wise to boot

I would just check to see if your EFI is compatible with a gen 3 DBW throttle setup. A gen 3 truck intake/TB is basically a throw-away freebie. It wouldn't cost you anything to switch.

I looked into it and the gen3 DBW needs an extra standalone module to function and I just didn’t want to mess with as there wasn’t a ton of info on it and it was more complicated than the gen4 DBW.

the LH6 has been kind of a PITA…that’s why I went Holley instead of using a modified factory harness.

Which Holley setup did you go with? There shouldn't be any need for an extra module with most of the Holley ECUs.

I went with a 550-931 based on Holley advice.

I’m trying to keep it all gen4 as I’m thinking an ls3 swap is in my future. The lh6 fit the budget for right now

Is your LH6 a 24x one? You might want to confirm, otherwise you won't be getting that engine running on that ECU anyway.
I have 2 24x LH6s in my garage right now.

The great thing about the Holley setup is that the reluctor values are programmable which means I can use the same harness for my lh6 and any of the gen4 motions. Confirmed that one twice!

looks like the gen3 to gen4 throttle body adapter is only half inch thick according to the LSXinnovatiins website. Can anyone confirm that?
