3 bolt throttle body to 4 bolt intake, does it work well?
#21
@Kfxguy I had the same experience with the large throttle bodies. It was super touchy off idle and felt like an ON/OFF switch. IAC whistled and could never get the startup flare well behaved. I bought a 3 bolt TB to 4 bolt intake adapter and bolted the stock 78mm truck TB back on with no tuning and my issues disappeared. Drives like stock now. Your shift tables will need adjusted. The adapter may have been the best $17 I've ever spent on eBay!
that’s nice to hear!
it started acting up on me AGAIN at lunch today. What’s happening is sometimes the tps will hang at .4% and then it will dip in rpm when letting off the throttle. Then come back up a couple hundred rpm and sometimes surge. Only way I can fix it is to turn out on the idle screw a little or do a tps reset. However I made a discovery by accident.
so the throttle cam is aluminum. The screw goes through a threaded little arm on the throttle cam. I was going to stretch the spring on the idle screw but when I unscrewed it, i found out the spring is too strong to stretch by hand (didn’t have tools with me) and when it needs to be adjusted, the spring is do short it doesn’t have much tension on it. Then what I discovered is the threads are a little loose fitting for the screw. So this is what’s been screwing with me. Pun intended. I could fix it with a steel threadsert, and a higher quality screw, but really I’d just rather the stock throttle body back on it. I’m tired of this ****.
