Default Fuel pump access door/racetronix

Hey, those of you using the access door method for installing a racetronix setup, do you have to lower the tank in order to get the new wiring harness up there?

No, you don't have to. You can fish the harness up there.

It is not recommended, because they highly recommend removing the tank to install the pump. Just so the tank can be cleaned and flushed out to prevent trouble down the road. IE particals ect. getting stuck in the check valve-pump, which will cause nothing but problems. Pressure not holding, premature failure.

I know when I did my install there was a lot of carp in the bottom of my tank, and only 30k on the car.
Now with the trap door I sure the tank can be cleaned but it is going to be much harder. At least with the tank off it was a breeze to clean & flush. After washing I was able to wipe out the whole thing, with a white cloth and saw nothing.

No problems to this day thing is working great!!!

What about using a fishing pole and some bait to get the carp out? They must be awfully hungry after being in there for so long with no food

Seriously, I wasnt aware of this. Thank you. Is this the only reason or does it cause structural problems as well?

I would say from a structural stand point it is not going to help in any way. Any time you cut on a uni-body you change its strength. To boot I have heard of folks nicking-cutting the fuel lines in the process as well, but if your cautious....Heck there has even been a case where to long of a bit was used to pilot the screw holes and damage was done...

IMOP it was just as easy to drop the tank and clean it and do the install. Took about 2-3hrs plastic tank, that is. And I know it is CLEAN.

Not only from a structural stand point, but now you have another area for corrosion-rust to build, unless sealed up form both sides.

Your Choice good luck........Catch a big one.........

Okay, maybe I'll do it the hard way. It sounds like any time saved would be wasted standing in line at home depot for some sheet metal anyways. It always takes me forever to find what I need and get out of there.

Well you going to need it in the air to install and route the harness as well. Vs doing just the pump from the top.

It's not hard to drop the tank. Once the exhaust is out it is about a 30 min job to drop the tank. This is the way it needs to be done.
