Default Very poor gas mileage

I am averaging about 160 miles per gallon on my tank and my car is basically stock, only a cutout and the lid. I go WOT maybe 1 time every two days and shift relatively smoothly. Something has to be wrong because thats maybe 9 miles to the gallon, which is pathetic. Fuel filter? O2's? Thanks

EDIT: 160 miles of all city driving

Something is wrong. I get much better gas milage than that in my car with significantly more mods. Hopefully someone can chime in to give you an idea of what the actual problem is.

Without datalogging (preferrably with a WBO2), you might as well ask the magic 8-ball.

ill average about 200 miles to a tank city-ish driving and about 220-225 highway-ish driving. pure highway driving would probably be close to 235-250 but ive never taken any long trips like that

damn! on my 2001 z28 m6 I get over 300 miles to the tank city/hwy. I try to run as few appliances as possible. keep that a/c off! unless you have a passenger that requests it or something.

On my 2000 Z28 M6 I get between 260-300 around town and near 400 on the highway. I don't think that appliances could cause a loss that large to drop mpg to around 9. That is just horrible. 9 mpg $3.00 per gallon so you only get about 3 miles for every dollar of gas you put in.

Have you guys looked at the Air:Fuel? I have all the boltons, 4600 converter, 3.42 gears, and the MS3 cam and I get 16mpg in the city. I daily drive it and A:F is 12.7:1.

Brakes might be rubbing? Jack it up and see if those wheels spin freely.

I get around 285 on a tank of gas, which is mostly high way miles, putting it in 6th gear at 60 mph, basically babying the car to save gas, it average around 21 miles a gallon which i think sucks considering the window sticker says 30 on highway, 19 city, with a 6 speed, and my car is stock for the most part. I ran it close to empy, put in 13.7 gallons of gas. I put some STP fuel injector carburator cleaner in there to see if it helps, if not I will try the STP gas stuff...

rear end gear ratios would help alot in this thread.

I know most Z-28s come with a 2.73. I have a 98 Trans Am A4 that has a 3.23 in it from the factory with a 3600 stall, lid, full lenghts, and an off road Y-pipe that gets about 180 miles per tank full of gas. The car got the same mileage before I put the converter and full lenghts/Y-Pipe on it. Does anyone have the same or close to the same combo ? If so what kinda mileage do you get ?

False info, your fuel pressure regulator controls the preasure. Hell yeah the Walbro can flow more, but after the regulator its still around 58psi unless the regulator has gone faulty.
