I'll be getting my car retuned shortly anyway. Probably gonna make the switch. My question is that I know on the old carb alky setups theres regular gas gaskets and alky gaskets. Are there special injector o-rings or anything that could be used to help prevent drying up.. If anyone has even had a problem with that.

Change to E85 on your own car and write about that.

I only had mine for 9 months, before changeing them, but didn't have any issues with the o-rings

my question is this.. Does your Stock LS1 HAVE to be modded for E85 to work with a stock LS1 or will it not work? I thought I seen someone say that they had tried it and it had no effect except a light coming on, but I don't know if thats what he meant. So Can you use E85 in a Stock Ls1 or will it cause problems?

you need to put in bigger injectors to get enough fuel into the engine (and a tune). Otherwise you don't have to. To get the most power/economey you should also bump the compression up and get the pcm tuned. There are probably more things to do if you are going all out. But I only know what I've read in this thread and similar around the net (and a few mag articles).

The PCM cant add that amount of fuel that is needed (30% more than gas) without an SES and your stock are to small to go WOT on E85.

So I am curious about how much bigger will my injectors need to be? 30%? I will have little room for an increase on my injectors. According to one of those programs that specify ~ how much fuel you will need based on power, ci, ect... I will be needing 89lbs/hr out of my 79lb/hr injectors and this is possible by stepping up from 3 bar to 4 bar pressure (79lb at 3bar and 94lbs at 4bar). Well that will mean I need ~116 lb/hr injectors right? If so I will have to step up to 120lb/hr injectors with a low impedence converter?

30% is the general rule. If you need 90 lbs. an hour for gas you would need the 120 lbs. injectors for the E-85. Man you must have some serious HP.

In a related question, has anyone tried running a flexfuel PCM on an LS1?
I would imagine it would appear the same as an LS2 conversion into an LS1 based car. Reluctor wheel swap, Electronic throttle body and a few various sensors.
The car is mostly a toy, although it wouldn't be uncommon for me to drive it 400 - 500 miles away from home. I would really love to run E85 in my swap, although there will be rare times when I foresee the need to fill up on standard gas.

EDIT:

These guys claim to be able to run E85 or premium with no retune required. Is this feasible? I do know that there are differences on the flexfuel PCM's, although since I don't personally have one, I'm not sure of what they are.

Excellent! I was going to try to get in touch with you in regards to a few questions.
My main question is how you account for the changes in stoic fuel ratio without the use of an ethanol sensor? How does the vehicle run when on 100% gas?

From a little research it looks like the true factory supplied flex fuel vehicles have the same PCM's as non flex fuel vehicles so this is looking more and more feasible all the time.

I just want to jump in here and add something.

DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING FROM PEOPLE WHO DO NOT RUN E85 IN THEIR OWN VEHICLE.

I will not argue with anyone on this, so don't try.

E85 will increase your engines performance when properly tuned.

Over 90% of the "infomation" offered on the web about E85 is not accurate.

I have spent countless hours sifting through E85 BS.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT E85, LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO USE IT.

I run E85, and just want to help others find good info on the subject.

I all ready have 255 pump and 42# injecters. I was getting ready to buy a meth kit but now I am thinking e85 might be better since there is a station that sells it a mile down the road. I have a STS car on 5 psi. What do you guys think would be safe with E85?

That's what I figure he's asking...

Have no clue with 85, but I know you have to do some different tuning and what not. I believe it's what, around 105 octane? Should make a nice street gas for a boosted application. Hear the gas mileage is worse though..
