Great Write-up!

No if only there were E85 stations in the Los Angeles area I would do this.

Plus another incentive...
I remember doing my taxes for 2005 and E85 & Alternatives fuels are considered a tax credit for your federal.

I don't know if it is still available for 2006?

Maybe I'm wrong, it was alittle over a year ago.

There are a lot of E85 gas stations around me. Maybe I should look into this for my turbo car.

What are your thoughts on the changing of mixtures throught the year for changing of wheather? This comes from responses from another forum. Does this in fact happen and would you have to change tunes for this? I really like the idea of doing this but want to be sure I fully understand what I am getting into. I just bought green tops but am cam only so I will have to watch DC before I think about this too.

I donr like the shifts from E85 to E70. I demand that the gasstations put i sign on the pump when it is E70 i it. If you have your car perfectly tuned on E85 it is going to be a little off on E70 but i dont know how much of a problem it is.

I never heard anything of E70,. but I do know the mix varies from pump to pump dif. times of the year. I work at a GMC dealership, and our flexfuel vehicles had to get a reflash to account for the ever changing mixture of E85. dont know how sensitive they are to slight changes in the mix., good question. I just know it does make a diff. for the tune.

Flex vehicles have a fuelsensor that correct the tune wether you run on E10 to E85, just look at the bin-file on a tahoe and youŽl see the tables. so they dont have any problems.

fuel composition sensor. its supposed to tell the pcm what the mix of alchohol content is in the fuel, but for some reason it wouldnt detect the slight changes in the mixtures of E85. and, if you mix gasoline and E85 it will obviously have less alcohol content.

Sounds wierd, the table ranges from 0 to 100 percent Ethanol in the mix but the program maybe needed an update anyway.

Hello Runn!! I have done a camswap on my car and it needs a tune, so iŽm thinking why not go e85?

Do i need anything else than bigger fuel injectors? Which oneŽs should i get?
Ford green 42#?????? or is there a better alternative?

Couldnt you test the fuel at the pump w/ a hydrometer. I know they use these to test water content in jp8 for aircraft and alcohol content in nitro for top fuel drag cars. I guess this would be a PITA to test at the pump but it would be a very accurate way to tune your a/f and timing after you fill up. I know they make on the fly timing controllers for the l36/l67 3800 cars. Mabey we could do the same with a/f and timing for the lsx engines.

I dont know how much extra power you will get with that cam, check what people with the same cam are using and ad an 30% on that... I use Ford Green (Bosch) #42 but i am going to change to #60 because of the turbo.

Not sure what you mean by it being "re-used"? Because plants absorb CO2? Well to make it, you have to harvest (as in cut down) 100's of thousands of acres of the plants (corn fields) you are saying are going to 'absorb' the CO2 produced by this ethanol.

Didnt read the rest, but I assume you read this stuff somewhere. Check the motivations of your sources. You are probably quoting BP Gas's website spin.

Hmmm...It shows up as a .hpt file and says failed validation check. Although I do need to update my VCM Suite.
