Mythbusters did that experiment. They said that it made that junker low compression caddy engine run better. This was not installed in a car and they just reved it w/o load. I would hardly call this a good test. I would NOT put them in my tank based on that.

My Father said he did it in his old 69 Z/28 when he was my age. I do not think I would do it though!!!

Some company just got busted for selling something like this - claimed it increased gas mileage. Not a good idea.

never heard of this one...Im sure that if it really worked, it would be commonplace for people to be using them all the time.

If you put anything in your tank other than gas, make it 100 octane racing fuel and go very sparing on THAT unless you have a motor built for truly hardcore racing ... maybe 5 gallons or less to a tank of 92/93 octane and only when you're going to race because of the expense of race gas.

Don't do it! The old ***** were napthalene but the new ones are a disubstituted chlorobenzene and will jack up the injectors.- It will literally eat the injectors.

I've also heard this from some old-timers (and some ricers as well). Based on the latter who I heard it from, I will not be doing this.
