Default racetronix prolem

My fuel pump shut off while I was driving and it hasn't turned on since. I had to have the car towed home and I have gone over all the fuses and even replaced the pump thinking that may have been the problem. I have run the wire back from the battery and it gets power all the way back to the block thats near the rear of the car and then it receives no power after that. The connection is good and tight but I believe this block may be blown. Anybody ever see this before? Its the black square block that has five prongs that stick out of it when disconnected, its connected to the ground wire.

If you are using the Racetronix wiring harness, that is the "MIL-spec 40 amp waterproof relay". Never heard of one going bad, but there is always the first time.

Yep its the racetronix harness and like I said it has power before it but after that relay it has no juice to the power wire just the float wires.

Well I just double checked it all and even rigged a wire to bypass that relay and after that it gets power to the pump. Looks like its defiantly that relay. Now I just gotta have racetronix send me a new one.

Check your grounds. A bad ground will not let the relay pull in.

other than at the relay which other grounds are there to check? I went over everything I could but maybe there is something I am missing.

Unplug the Racetronix harness and plug the factory harness back in to see if the pump works on the factory wiring.

If it does not work then you have a factory wiring issue.

double checked all my ground wires as requested and even disconnected them and scuffed them and their contact areas up with sandpaper with no luck. I can't find my old wiring harness but I don't see why it could be the stock wiring as there is none aside from the factory connectors that are mounted permanently but they receive no power into them anyways. When I put a wire on to bypass the relay everything gets power just fine. Anything else?

There is also still a factory fuse and relay that could (and commonly) go bad. Make sure the Racetronixs relay is getting a trigger. Relay is a heavy duty switch needs to be told to turn on needs ground needs heavy power which you said you have both.

The factory relay and fuse in the box under the hood are both good if that is what you are referring to, I have switched them both out as well.

The RX harness plugs into the factory harness near the D/S rear shock.
Unplug the RX harness and plug the factory harness back into the bulkhead connector. This will allow you to run the pump off of the factory wiring to make sure it works.

Ok I finally understand what you meant by this sorry for being an idiot lol. I plugged in just the factory connector and still no pump kicking on, where do I go from here then? I also cleaned out all the connectors even though none of them looked dirty or corroded and still no luck.

Did you check pump operation?
Plug the Racetronix harness back in and then jumper pins 30 and 87 on the relay socket with a piece of wire. The pump should run assuming the RX 20 amp fuse is OK. You can ID the relay terminal numbers by looking at the bottom of the relay. These are the terminals with the thick red wires going in. If the pump still does not run you have a problem either with the factory wiring or pump assembly.

We can send you the GM diagnostic procedure if you do not own a factory service manual.

I checked pump operation completely out of the pump cradle itself, I removed the pump and gave it direct power to see if it worked and all was fine. I'll have to jumper those two wires and see what I get.

Ok just jumpered those two slots together and the pump turns on just fine. Does that mean my factory wiring is ok then?

Nope, it means that you have factory wiring issues. It is not the Racetronix harness.

Ok this is what I have discovered thus far, I get power to the factory terminal but only for the other connector on top of the tank, as for the float and power to the pump I get no juice. I rechecked the power coming in through the relay and fuse in the factory box and they get power. So power is being lost between the front to the rear factory connector. The wiring runs under the carpet as from what I can see, are there any other fuses or relays in between or do I have to tear the interior out and track down a problem in the wiring? Please send the GM procedure if possible.

Good luck with all that. I know when I installed my racetronics a while back I was pulling my hair out. I came to find out that a fuse had blown.
