255lph Walbro Install on 98? I have done extensive searching with no luck. So maybe the fuel gods can help.
I have a 98 formula so I read that the design is a little different than 99+ as well as having the metal tank.
My question is about the install, what actually is needed to install the ($80) Walbro 255 in-tank in my car? Is a wiring kit needed? I would be buying a complete Walbro kit so want to make sure I get everything I need.
Or is the racetronix kit ($250) worth the extra money? Thanks

I bougth a 80dollar walbro and it the install is easy, on thing that I needed that wasnt included in the kit was a 23.00 dremmel kit. The install write up is in this forum.

99-2002 have a plastic tank, and its differeant then the 98 cars. It has a jet pump i believe and is mounted a little differenet.
98's i dont know about because i havn't got mine out of car yet, and no one ever seems to talk about it, but tons of people ask about it.

It's actually easier to install on the '98s since we don't have a bucket to cut apart to try to fit the pump. All you'll need in addition to pump is a large hose clamp or two to secure the pump to the tank assembly. Cut and splice two wires and you're ready to go.

so it's no big deal installing the walbro pump on the 98's, you can just drop it in, securing it using two hose clamps, and there aren't any fuel starvation issues like there are with the 99+'s? recommended method for splicing the wires? thanks

I installed my Walbro GSS340 last night. Clamped it to the sending unit using two stainless steel clamps. used some fuel line between the clamp and the pump and the pump and the sending unit to isolate the pump in hopes that it might reduce vibrations. I saw where someone else did it and it seemed like a good idea. let me know if you think there is anything wrong with that, as I've heard people talk about how the lines break down over time, but I suspect they weren't talking about fuel hose. here are pictures from another thread of where to cut, they came in handy for me and should probably be stickied:
